If this deal does go down the release route, the fact we made serious strides to sign him (paperwork etc.) might work favourably but I doubt it. I reckon our best chance is trying to get dispensation to complete the loan move a day late.

No, only if they were free agents at the time of the window shutting. Technically they can join the club at any time but they are ineligible to play until the next window when they can be registered

 

Simple thing is, we need another striker. Stokes and Griffiths can't be trusted to rattle in the goals, and we don't know what this Scepovic will be like. If one were to get injured then we're in trouble.

Man City website reporting that the loan failed. They claim that both teams failed to submit the required papers to the SFA in sufficient time to complete the transfer.

Old news but it might explain why the deal took so long. If they took that long to collectively fill the papers out, there's a chance there was an issue with wage percentage that took a while to get over the line i.e. City saying they want 10%, and Lawwell as usual offering 5% and returning with improved offers in increments of 0.1% until he finally gives in and realises the deals dead if he doesn't just accept.

Also worth bearing in mind that City were trying to offload Negredo at around the same time as we were trying to sign Guidetti; they had bigger fish to fry.

Of course, City could just be being kind and blaming both sides to avoid embarassing either.

Stokes can't, Griffiths can. The problem is that Deila doesn't seem to fancy Griffiths. In truth I can see why: Stokes' overall game is probably better than Griffiths', but I'd have Griffiths in there over Stokes purely because Griffiths excels at hitting the net, the key ingredient to winning football matches.

Got until midnight tonight to register our Europa League squad. Hope this get's sorted out sooner rather than later. Mind you...we love doing things the long, tedious mind numbing way.
