Don't have any issue with John Collins. Ok, he comes across as arrogant. However he's a fine example for young Scottish players of what it takes to reach a top level. One of few Scottish players to reach a top European level.

I just wonder if Collins attitude and because he was successful, grates against people.

Ibrahimovic doesn't tire of telling everyone and anyone in ear shot, about how great a player he is. Ronaldo likewise has a certain arrogance about him.

By the way I'm not comparing Collins in terms of ability to the above. Just highlighting that a bit of arrogance isn't that bad of a trait to have. As long as its mixed with the other attributes, all 3 have shown throughout their respective careers.

I like the guy. It's just that wink at the World Cup always makes me cringe, and the six pack story too. Which is weird because I love C.Ronaldo and I'm sure he's done worse :56:

Guy was a class act, and a lot of people forget he could have signed for that mob for more money.

You don't get a lot of 6 packs in the top level of tennis, wonder why that is.

He clearly has a lot of affection for Celtic and seems to hate the Huns but he is a bit smarmy

He does come across as a bit arrogant, but he could have signed for the huns but signed for us and he still loves Celtic.

A lot of people will remember him for the infamous quotes regarding the ability of Scottish based players compared to those in Europe when we play them. Got to say I fully agreed with him, but you could tell it didn't resonate with the players at the time and only spurred on other teams in the league.

Full respect and admiration for the guy who gave us so many wonderful moments in his playing days and was part of a management team which won us 2 titles on our way to 10.

Hibs fan but his Dad was a Tim, that he says was why he never signed for the monkeys as his Da would never have forgave him.

100 percent a lot of people thought he was a hibs man. My mother was pals with his auntie he came from Galashiels. Loved him as a player he was tremendous, was a relief when he came to Celtic the fans at the time were choking for him to sign. Canny find it on google am not sure but i think he had a a spell with celtic boys club at one point. Anyone confirm this?

part of an interview from celtic view

Do you remember how your move to Celtic came about?
I was playing at Hibs at the time and I was at the World Cup, for Italia ‘90, when I first heard Celtic were interested. My agent phoned me and said Celtic would like to speak to me when I got home. So when I came back I took the phone call. Billy McNeill came down to my home base in the Borders to meet me and that’s where most of the discussions took place. That’s where it all began and it was a very, very special day as you can imagine. Like every other Celtic supporter growing up my dream was to play for them. All the pictures of me when I was a kid was me wearing my Celtic strip so to then be standing there for the photo-shoot, with the Hoops on, was a very special moment. Not just for me – the whole family too because they are all Celtic supporters so that made it extra special.
