It was actually Fiorentina in 84 and Sampdoria in 92

John Collins is a phenomenal appointment for Celtic in my opinion. Classy footballer with modern coaching philosophies and a total tim.

No it was Udinese. The other club who were in for him at that time was Blackburn. Both were newly promoted clubs.

A wee bit worried about JC being assistant. Not that I doubt his talent, but from what I've heard of his personality a no2 job might not be enough for him. Hope am wrong because it's * great to have him back at Celtic. I was hoping for John Kennedy to get the no2 job, but if JK is going to be part of the first team coaching staff them I am one happy bhoy.

Ex players who criticise shouldn't be set upon just because they do its a part of life and if its constructive and honest I welcome it Charlie nich and burley have issues with celtic and never say a good thing provan isn't much better thinks hes English like souness as I said Collins was a fine player and he left as players do I wouldn't hold that against him though Fergus would as he chased him for money for about 3 years lol. Never liked Collins as a pundit and when you hear about the hibs things he comes across in y opinion as a smug *. Now hes the choice so all good but he wouldn't have been mine but we all are entitled to our opinions

Very excited about this. Always thought he was a top man and i'm sure he will be a breathe of fresh air to the club and the supporters just like Deila will be.

Very exciting time to be a Celtic fan right now, I just hope Deila and Collins can work together and get the results that we all want. I really really think that this could work out very well for the club, giving the new staff a good season to get a good crack at the Premiership. Who knows what we can achieve from here on in.

I think John Collins will be the perfect foil for Deila as he has a lot going for him, top Celtic man in his day, fitness fanatic and he knows the Scottish game inside out, and strikes me as being on the same wavelength as Deila as regards being a football purist. Collins will no doubt be very keen to make the Celtic squad even fitter than before, so players like Commons and Watt will have to be up to the mark. This is an exciting and potentially great partnership in the making with Collins and Deila, one thing is for sure, things will never be the same again, and Lenny who I liked was nevertheless tactically poor at times, I don't think tactics will ever be a problem again with Collins and Deila.

Cool story bro and all that but my boss has * his knee and has been undertaking some physio at Hampden thsi morning. He got the guy who works with the Scotland team and he said, and I quote "John Collins was absolutely desperate to get the No 2 job and has NEVER been so excited for a role."

As an aside he said he also had the displeasure of seeing Vincent Lunny's *, but I digress.

You canny really trust McAvennie. If someone like McNamara or Tom Boyd or even Peter Grant etc was saying that then you'd take it serious but McAvennie and probably McGarvey anything they say you take with a pinch of salt as they are the type to say anything for a few £££.
