It doesn't matter if we'd have wanted an opposing player sent off for the same challenge.. I've seen enough times where guys in other teams have gotten away with yellow cards with no attempt to play the ball - for things like a blatant elbow in the face (mculloch) , or a similar challenge to Ledleys but from behind (whittaker) , or studs into players chests when jumping (mcgregor , mculloch).. If refs are giving out cards then they must have seen the incidents and if they're only deeming those to be yellow card offenses then I can't see how a challenge that takes the ball and then the man being worthy of a red..

won the ball fair and square-but thats after a few replays-although * knows how thomson saw it clearly enough for a straight red-never consulted his linesman either-any excuse innit

Well it's a game played professionally by both sexes, but let's let that pass. :86:
Either way, it's undeniably a game with rules on what you are allowed to do and what you aren't.

Going in two feet studs up, scissoring the guy's legs & totally taking him out is a straight red -
    & rightly so.

We are constantly on the wrong end of incompetence and bias from Scottish officials, but that doesn't mean we should ignore it when our players just lose the plot.

its one of those ones that some refs will send him off and others will give a yellow. he did get the ball but it was a two footed lunge with the trailing leg coming round and taking the man so he's given the ref the opportunity to produce the red. similar to one thomson got sent off for rangers last year to be honest, at tynecastle as well i think

The only mistake Ledley made was not going in harder on that * Black, can't stand him. I thought it was a bad tackle but nowhere near as bad as Lafferty's on Hinkel, did he get sent off....

Not even a foul, won the ball first and took the player second with his trailing leg, the ref had two fingers up telling Maloney it was two footed.

Yep it say straight red - you just can't tackle like that in the modern game anymore - totally unnecessary but if someone had done that to 1 of our players I'd expect the same...but the ref wouldnt have seen it if it was one of our players:87:

By letter of law its red card even if you win ball still think its harsh though

I'd need to watch the tackle again to see if Ledley got the ball first or not but it was NO WAY a red card. People being sent off for tackles like that is spoiling the game imo.

If you ask me, Jos Hooiveld's tackle was worse than Joe Ledley's and the only reason Hooiveld survived was because the ref had already sent Ledley off. So the chances are we would have ended up with 10 men anyway.

Not even a foul for me. A hard challenge no doubt, but a fair one. No contact from studs and gets the ball.

Was watching it again as it happenned and as soon as Ledley is through the challenge you can see him get straight up on his feet gesturing towards the benches , incensed that we didn't get a throw or that a free-kick had been signalled to Hearts.. You can't see the linesman in the picture but I'd guess Ledley saw him and was reacting to him flagging..
