Both feet off the ground in scissors motion, regardless of whether he got the ball, that's not on, he could've really hurt the guy.

Years ago was not a foul in todays game its a red card , just look at Essien last night no contact with the player but went for intent.

Yellow card at the most. HE WON THE BALL FIRST!. I cant believe 10 Celtic fans think that was a red card. Have yous just been listening to Andy Walker on Skysports talking about it. Aye?

The thing that I have to say is its was always going to be a red card because it was a very small window for the hun * to jump on because if you through the book at it then it can go both ways which means its only go one way for us and thats a red card.

And that's why I say Ledley shouldn't have got a red.. There wasn't the same kind of intent as Essien who could easily have broken a players ankle in what was more like a two footed stamp.. Ledley's intent was to win the ball.. A booking if deemed dangerous..

2 footed tackle is when you lunge with 2 feet at the ball/player.. Ledley won the ball with his right foot and his left leg came round, he didnt chop the guy with his left leg it was just hanging there, it did make contact with ian black but almost every sliding tackle made you make contact with the player aswell..

2 footed lunge is a red card, 1 foot lunge with studs showing and above the ball height is a red card.. Ledleys tackle was never a sending off, at the very most with a strict referee he should have been booked. His left leg which was the one that im assuming the ref sent him off for because it came in aswell which made it look 2 footed.. That was just hanging there because of the way he went in for the ball.. Never a sending off, another mistake by the referee:38:

I've seen MUCH MUCH worse, for example, Laughertys challenge on hinkel, kenny millers last season on ?? cant remember O'Dea? not sure, theres 2 just off the top of my head and i dont remember any of these being red cards.........

At first glance I thought it was a justified red card.

However, his left leg is basically underneath him as someone mentioned, he gets the ball first with his right leg and then the left leg swings around and takes the player out.

Personally feel it should have been a yellow card as the left leg does swing round and take him out with some power, however it's not a malicious challenge and he's not intending to injure anyone.

I would be saying this if it was a hearts player too, I wouldn't have my players going in with any less conviction at times. Thought Ledley was really unlucky.

wasnt a foul in my books the angle that ledley slid in meant his other leg couldnt of been in any other position and he needed to make the tackle because hearts were on the counter , won the ball it was a tough tackle but back in the day he would of got away with it and it * me of as to why now a days you tackling is going out of the game so to speak but were would football be without a good solid slide tackle i love them myself lol but i imo it was a good tackle

Not even a yellow card. It is as perfect a challenge you are likely to see. His feet are on the deck when he takes the ball and his studs make no contact with Black whatsoever. It was the momentum from the challenge that injured him which come part in parcel with a strong challenge.

If thats a red then it really shows you how poofy football has become.

Never a red imo no intent to hurt Black and got the ball , no worse than Mculloch against us earlier in the season which was a deserved yellow

Straight red for me, it was a stupid tackle which put us at a disadvantage.

This is why i don't understand why so many people deemed this a red card tackle!:38: Burley is a * ringpiece of a man. Football is heading towards basketball in terms of contact.. Hooiveld shouldered wee templeton off the ball yesterday, because templeton fell over, they got a freekick.. It seems that your not allowed to touch a player atall in football now.. It's a shame that when a big strong centre half puts a wee laddy on the ground from basically brushing him, you get freekicks agasint:38:

Not a foul, won the ball clean as ! But in todays ever more effeminate version of football, when you leave the ground like that, and i don't think it was two footed, you will see red ! Years ago you used to see challenges like that in the first ten minutes of every game ! The way Black went up in the air as Joe went underneath him made it look worse. Blacks a * anyway ! Loves to dish it out but cant take it !

    straight red ....
unfortunately the ref got it right. Hate saying this ...
But the minute he has both feet off the ground he is deemed no longer in control of his body/motion .... total joke of a rule.. but a rule nonetheless.... if he makes zero contact with the player he would STILL have got sent off ...
i thought it was a great challenge and one i would want my midfielder to make ... sadly not allowed.

It was a tackle bad enough to put it into the outskirts of the straight red bracket. One of those borderline ones where a yellow is too little but a red maybe a fraction too much. If it had been one of our players and the offender was a Rangers player then we would have been screaming for a red.
