Genuinely not intending to be negative (I'm feeling more and more excited about Rodgers' coaching and have loved what I've heard and seen in that regard); but anyone listening to a word he says about anything that isn't specifically about coaching is crazy IMO. The stuff about Ederson was weird: there are a huge number of intermediate stages between Hart and Ederson when it comes to playing the ball out with your feet. It's like saying he doesn't need Starfelt to be Lilian Thuram. Well, yes, sure; but can he be Johan Mjällby?

Look at it this way: 2 weeks ago he had watched almost every Celtic game since he left (which I didn't believe at the time) and now he apparently thinks Jota is called Yoto. These 2 things just don't go together.

Conor Hazard admits Joe Hart was like a mentor to him at Celtic as he thanked the veteran keeper for his guidance.

Northern Ireland goalie Hazard this week completed a £150,000 move to English Championship side Plymouth Argyle. Hazard, 25, spent last year on loan with Helsinki, winning the Finnish title and the Veikkausliiga 2022 Goalkeeper of the Season after recording 14 clean sheets in 39 games. Now, he can't wait to get started at his new club and the shotstopper revealed Hart gave him his blessing to move south.

He said: "Joe was terrific with me. I couldn't have learned from anyone better. When I told him about the move, he said to go down and do my own thing.

I couldn't hold Joe in any higher regard. He was easy to approach and nothing was too much trouble. That tells you everything about him, especially for someone who's done everything in the game."

Probably seen about 5 games if he's lucky since he left. Leicester were always in Europe as well so even European games he'd barely have seen.

Nocunts got the time really to manage a team playing 50 times a season and even give a single * about what another team is doing.

I think Hart is fine as the keeper but he would have the same problems as Gordon did before when Rodgers always wanted him to ping passes to the full-backs who were closer to the half-way line to restart play.

If he wants that with Hart, Hart won't be able to do it and his * will collapse as well.

Really Rogers shouldn't change from the Ange way of playing out from the back but he's probably barely watched us, Kennedy and Strachan should stand up more to him if he * about too much and tell him the way we played out from the back before was much better.

Personally, I think that if he says he needs a keeper who can ping balls out from the back, we should get him a keeper who can do that. That kind of ability is becoming more common now, so there must be a young guy out there who fits our profile.

Telling him that he has to play the way Ange Postecoglou played because of the goalkeeper is almost the definition of not backing him.

It's time to improve on him.

Too many comments about him being "fine" or "does a job". I think that says it all.

Fantastic guy and he's served us well the past 2 years but nows the time for change. Even if he was to stay at the cup keeper then move into a coaching role, fantastic.

My old man gave me good advice about looking around for others while currently having one on the go.

He said to me, 'Son, you don't look at the mantle piece when you're stoking the fire.'

And rightly so. Joe will do just nicely for the time being thank you very much.

I’m absolutely adamant we need a new keeper. If Hart didn’t have the leader persona and you just focused on his goalkeeping I think that would be a unanimous opinion. He’s miles off what we need. He’s grand, does a job, not a bad keeper by any means. That’s not what we need though. Would be massively disappointed if he’s our number 1 again this season.

I'm genuinely not sure I understand what you mean by this analogy.

Are you saying we should only start looking to strengthen positions if and when the current player becomes *? I can't agree with that.

Or are you saying now's not the time? If not during the transfer window, when?

Or maybe you mean that we should only look for a replacement after we move the current player on? That would be suicidal.

I mean Joe Hart is not like a girlfriend in any meaningful way. That would mean we had like 20 girlfriends on the go who we pay. :97:

I'm not sure (pace Jota) it's a very helpful way to look at it.

For me, it depends on what Brendan wants. As a shot-stopper, Hart is not exactly peak Boruc or peak Forster, but he's good enough IMHO. However, if Brendan wants to play a way that requires the goalie pinging passes out to the wings, then we need to back him this time and we all know that goalie isn't Joe Hart. What's the point in spending all that money to bring Rodgers back if we don't back him?

Hart’s a decent shot stopper but some of the goals he let in last season were shocking and they didn’t really get highlighted. One that sticks in my mind is Mudryk when we were away to Shakhtar (there were plenty others) Good strike but I would go as far as to say it should have been saved. We were all over them that game. That’s the difference in Europe. You need a quality keeper or you’re * in the wind.

I’m not here to say he didn’t have his fair share of decent saves.

Fully expect him to be our #1 this season and I'm fine with it. Highly doubt his eventual replacement will be as good a shot stopper as he is.

I think right now the no1 position is his to lose, Rodgers won't want to displace him straight away, will see how he performs.

Re-watched our two games against Lazio and the amount of worldies Forster pulled off was insane.

Still don’t think Hart has had a game with us yet that we’re going to look back on and think what a performance he had. He pulled off an amazing double save when he first joined, think it was against either Jablonec or Sarajevo but i can’t recall many others

Would like a change in this position.

He's been great for us off the pitch as much as on but seems on a downward trajectory.

He had a massive save early in the Alkmaar game at paradise but not much else stands out for me

His reaction save from a Ross County free kick was a belter. Stopped the game turning into an * on the edge of the seat affair.

Few very important ones against the huns aswell.

He's made good saves throughout his time here, no point pretending otherwise. It's doing him a disservice.
