Prime for prime I think RJJ edges it over Calaghe in terms of boxing ability. In a fight at super-middle weight though it fancy Calzaghe to edge it even in Jones best years due mainly to jones * chin. Dont know how anyone can claim Calzaghes arrogant, he's spent the most part of his career shunning any media attention and its only in the last 2-3 years that he's really been appreciated by most people in the UK outside of boxing fans. IMO he's undoubtabely the best sportsmen in the country at the moment and has been for some time.

I agree with that all the way. However it would have been interesting to see how far Joe could have went if he split with Frank Warren years ago and never put up with fighting bums (well most of them) and went over to USA to chase the big fights instead of leaving it to his last 2 fights to better his record.

And 1 other thing even if Joe tanks Jones Jr the Americans still wont hold Joe in as high regard over there as we do over here.

I certainly do, and if you watch the Roy Jones video no one can say Calzaghe has ever been as good as that. Yes he beat Eubank (past it at the time), he beat B-Hop in the USA (well past it at the time), and he beat Lacy (have you ever heard of Jeff Lacy since then?). Im not denying the guy has talent, Im just saying he's not nearly as good as he makes out. Everyone is touting him as a legend but for 10 years he didnt fight the top guns i.e Roy Jones, Hopkins, Trinidad, Vargas, Tarver etc, (Im not saying he deliberatley avoided them but he didnt fight them, but the way boxing works it's highly unlikely that he would have coincidentally avoided fighting any of these guys in the 10 years that he was champion). He's deciding to fight the likes of Hopkins and Roy Jones now because he knows he can beat them, they're old men - totally past it - looking for one last shot at a title and Calzaghe thinks that if he fights and beats these guys now this will make him a legend - it wont. The same way as Danny Williams isnt a legend because he beat Mike Tyson

Yes Hatton is arrogant, but at least he didnt dodge fights. He fought Floyd Mayweather in his prime, was outclassed and beaten. You cant argue with that. The guy may be arrogant but at least he's willing to fight the best guys in the business when there is actually a fight on

Joe Calzaghe is a legend. Anyone who says otherwise is clueless and reads too much * spouted by jealous Yanks on sites like boxingscene.com

45 and 0 baby! Make that 46 soon.

Your argument falls on its * mate. So Hopkins was well past it at the time? Well that past it guy laced * out of the great new hope Kelly Pavlik at the weekend!

And Calzaghe destroyed Lacy. It was a brutal one-sided beating and Lacy has never recovered from it. Calzaghe was the heavy underdog in that fight.

You fling in Vargas' name, he was a light-middleweight! Two weight classes below Calzaghe, and he was sparked out by De La Hoya. And Tarver is average, Calzaghe would beat him with ease.

You ever considered that these guys ducked Calzaghe?

You can't deny Calzaghe is a Legend theres no taking that away. I will however agree that IMO he never took the biggest fights that where available. Whether the blam for that goes to Warren or Joe it depends who you belive, but i know if i was a pro boxer (and as good as calzaghe) i would be chasing the biggest fights against the best boxers even if it meant going to the USA, Australia or even Timbucktoo. To be honest i still reckon Calzaghe would still of been up there with all the guys that he should of fought, so it puzzles me why he never done it.

You could make any f*ckin boxer look good by sticking all his best bits in a f*ckin youtube video, so that video proves f*ck all.

Jones did his share of ducking, Steve Collins ring a bell?

    C'mon Joe!

I despise this fight. Jones is a walking corpse and Joe is cashing out yet it's being hyped as a 'defining fight' for him.

i dont see any hype saying it's defining and if there is well its just for hype purposes

would you say that RJJ is shot (aged 39 ) ?

People said that hopkins (aged 43 ) was all but done before fighting calzaghe , look what he did to pavlik at the weekend

styles make fights ,i think its going to be a great fight

I want to see a Hopkins Jones rematch, no matter the outcome.

This is a clip from one of the last time the 2 chatted. There is some real bad blood.
