    Yep..

I feel like a fee should always be involved for those exact reason's if possible with a loan..

We don't have to trigger it if the player doesn't impress and it gives us that security that we're getting first dibs if he does well..

A buying club doesn't have much leverage on deadline day, especially in January. Dortmund had no reason to give us an option to buy.

On the other hand, got to think about the player also. A loan may be all he is interested in.

    Time will tell!

Do we make him our highest paid player? Because if the reports are true that's what it would take to get him permanently..

    It depends how he does..

He'd maybe have to take a hit of 10 grand to come here and play regularly whilst putting his self in the shop window down here..

With some of the absolute duds and wages that will be going in the summer...why no, fuckit..

CELTIC capped off a successful January transfer window by signing Jeremy Toljan on a six-month loan deal from Borussia Dortmund. Despite receiving other offers, the 24-year-old defender said joining the Scottish champions until the summer was an easy decision to make.

In an exclusive interview with Celtic TV, the German right-back said he was delighted with his move to Glasgow and to be part of such a massive club. He’s now desperate to hit the ground running, and targets trophies in the second half of the campaign.

“I’m very happy to be here, and I’m looking forward to a big challenge,” said Toljan. “For me, it’s busy at the moment, I’ve had to do a lot of things. Celtic is a big club, a massive club, and I’m looking forward to get going.

“That’s one of the reasons I came here, I know that it’s a winning club and they’ve won lots of trophies in the past. That was a big reason for me to come here, to improve my game and win some trophies with the team.

“I played in Dortmund, so I’m used to big crowds, but I’ve heard about the atmosphere at Celtic Park. It’s one of the reasons I decided to come here. Everybody talks about European games for Celtic, and says that they’re amazing, so I’m looking forward to European football here.”

Taking up the No.2 jersey in Brendan Rodgers’ side, Toljan follows in the footsteps of countryman Andreas Hinkel - who the 24-year-old remembers from his time at VfB Stuttgart. Speaking of his own qualities, Toljan cited pace as his strongest asset and said he enjoys assisting and, whenever possible, scoring goals at the other end of the pitch.

Toljan has already struck up a rapport with Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers, which helped make up his mind ahead of the move.

“Pace is one of main attributes, but I have more to offer,” said Toljan. “I’m an offensive right-back and I like to go forward and assist and score goals. I think I’m good in combination with the team. But we’ll see, I’m looking forward to get going.

“I had a good conversation with the manager, he showed me a plan and told me how he wants to improve my game and how I will fit into the team. I had other options, but the conversations I had with the manager and the club were positive and I did not have to think about it very long.

"I had a good feeling, Celtic is a big club and as I’ve said many times before, I’m happy to be here and I’m looking forward to playing.”

Jeremy Toljan took a pay cut in order to make a deadline day move to Celtic, according to Brendan Rodgers.

Speaking as the 24-year-old full-back underwent a round of fitness checks at the club, Rodgers believes that Toljan’s willingness to sacrifice salary in order to put his career to the forefront already augers well for the loan spell which is set to follow.

Toljan is a right-back but can also play on the left-side with Rodgers excited about what he will offer Celtic between now and the end of the season.

He [Toljan] is a player who has sacrificed his own wages and money to want to come here to play which shows a sign that he is hungry to get his career back on track again,” said Rodgers. “He recognises this is a big club which gives him the opportunity to do that.

“It is a great attitude to start with and I look forward to working with him.

“It says everything for me. It says everything in terms of wanting to get football and get playing.”

The Parkhead side have been open about their wish to bring in a right-back in recent transfer windows and Rodgers expects that Toljan will offer versatility as well as an aggressive and attack-minded game.

“He is very quick, he is dynamic and he also gives us flexibility because he can play on both sides – he has played a lot for Dortmund on the left-hand side as well,” explained Rodgers

He brings that athleticism that I like players in my team to have to have. In the modern game, at the higher levels you have got to have to be able to defend the central areas, the middle, but also be able to get out and he has the pace to do that and get tight to people.

“He has a good profile – 6 foot, fast and dynamic. He gives us another dimension.”

How can he have taken a wage cut if it's a loan deal?

Actually no sure how that works as whatever we don't pay would have to be covered by his club..

Unless we have some sort of agreement where we're paying 30 or something and Dortmund aren't expected to pay the other 10 or whatever it is?
