    Lewis Morgan has revealed Jeremie Frimpong was so impressive in his early Celtic training sessions that Scott Brown urged Neil Lennon to start him.

    The right-back has been a huge success for the club since joining from Manchester City last summer and has quickly made himself a first pick in the Hoops squad.


    He was initially signed as a development player but Morgan admits that the whole squad was hugely impressed by him in his early appearances.

    The 19-year-old added a new dimension to Celtic's attack with his runs from deep and he's started this season impressively as well


    And Morgan has told the story of his early days at Celtic and he can't believe Manchester City let him go.

    Speaking to Si Ferry on Open Goal, he said: "He’s exactly what Man City would want in a full-back so I’m not sure how Celtic have managed to get him.


    He’d came up and trained and within the first couple of weeks I remember Cal (Callum McGregor) and Broony ( Scott Brown ) after training saying one day ‘He has to play


    "I think they told the coaches he has to play. He’s so quick.

    "When he (Brown) said it, it carries a lot weight and the coaches listened and not looked back since.


    "He’s great, he’s a great kid. He’s so young and has so much energy and is just happy all the time. You see him on social media and it’s not an act, that’s how he is."

    He's got a lot to learn defensively and I wouldn't want to throw him into an important match v Sevco at this stage. Really good prospect though.
