Was absurdly good here, but just happened to be part of a poor team.

There were numerous games where we would feed him the ball in the RB position, then stand and watch expecting him to go last 2/3 players and create something - and he would!

Delighted to see him do well.

The cup final we won in which he ironically got sent off in, and the game we lost 2-1 to them at home, the gameplan was genuinely just get the ball to him and let him run with it.

He’s going to the very top of the game.

Suprised he's still there as good as Leverkusen are, hopefully they keep it up & he can add another league title to the honours.

I remember when some thought he was * and glad he left. I never understood that.

He was absolute quality for us.

Some folk judged him for his height. Wasn’t always positionally brilliant for us either.

That's more of a fault on the coaching. Not surprising given his manager at the time. He was a very young lad at the time who'd never played first team football before.

I’m not blaming him for it, I thought he was great minus the cup final red card.

Really liked him here, only flaw i could really remember was his crosses into the box were terrible.

Everytime I watch Leverkusen, I see us getting an extra £250k a performance off of him, the sell on fee, somewhere between 10% and 17% (17% was that specific, I want to believe that one :56:)

Delighted to see what he’s making of his ability, I hope our fans look at what he’s turned into and have the thought maybe let young talent have the freedom to develop instead of when they hit that dip all young guys do, write them off, slaughter them, and generally be hyperbolic about their ability. Go through this thread around the month before he left, it’s funny as * in hindsight

Young defenders rarely have that nailed down from day one, rapid ones even less so. Weirdly the exception to that I can think of for us, Adam Matthews was rapid before his injuries and positionally excellent at a young age. Jura, at 28 and very experienced, maybe the best positionally and pace I’ve seen.

None match Lustig at his peak though, he wasn’t that quick, so he needed that positioning to be spot on. The last two guys though, we bought them when they had already learned. When we get a superbly talented teenager like Frimpong and he doesn’t play like a guy with 2/300 games under his belt, we need to let them learn that here. We generally don’t. The guys that do learn it at us though, I will say everyone I can think of have a * exceptional mentality.

See I can remember Juranovic getting caught out of position a few times and folk criticising him for us. Every player is going to get caught out sometimes but with Juranovic I think it was a by-product of him inverting and attacking.

That is some run and finish from that angle and running at pace. Leverkusen are brilliant….and Kane has spurs’d it

Serious question. Is he the best right back in world football right now? Serious stats the last 2 seasons and also a poty. And if not, can you name 3 right backs right now who are better than him?

I personally think he is, then maybe cancelo, Trent, walker? Think frimpong edges all them All round last 2 seasons. I could be forgetting someone

If only we could all get a penalty every 120 minutes of football
