Surely that's on profit and not whole fee?

£50 mil fee quoted now. If we have 30% of profit, that would be £11.55 mil for us + CL money = goodbye Sevco.

    Maybe mate.

Either way with the fees being quoted we will probably get double figures again.

Could end up getting about £22m for a player signed for £300k.

Didn't we have to pass on some of his fee to City?

    Some return either way.

Yeah original deal was £300k potentially rising to £1m with 30% of profit (I think). So they would have got about £3mish of the original fee, but hopefully it is the same deal we got with 30% of profit as reported and Man Utd get the cheque book out.

That would be like selling a top player without it impacting our squad at all now. If Tierney moves for a profit from Arsenal then that could earn us another couple £m.

I'd imagine that for any "normal" EPL club the price would be the £40-45M quoted, but the Big 6 "Premier Premium" is likely to see MU paying £50-55M. Which is insane money, but somehow chump change to them - they get about £750M from their Adidas sponsorship, doubling if in CL if I remember correctly. That's outside their corporate, TV, league, CL money etc...

English Premier League big hitters Manchester United are reportedly locked in a three-way battle for the signature of Jeremie Frimpong in the summer transfer window as Celtic look to cash in.

Having left the Hoops for Bayer Leverkusen in a fee that totalled around £11million back in the January window of 2021, Frimpong has gone from strength to strength in the Bundesliga with a string of impressive performances at right-wing-back under former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso's guidance.

Hoops chiefs are said to have inserted a clause which means Celtic are entitled to 30% of the profit should the defender leave the BayArena, with those hopes only increasing thanks to United's reported interest and a World Cup place for the Amsterdam-born talent in Netherlands' squad. And reports have now claimed that the Red Devils will be rivalled by fellow European giants Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the race for the rapid full-back.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, United, Bayern and Barcelona have had direct meetings with Frimpong's agent, Jeffrey Lemmert, as the trio look to secure his signature come the end of the season. United have had well documented uncertainty over current full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and would need direct competition for Portuguese man Diogo Dalot should the former Crystal Palace man depart.

Jules Kounde has been a makeshift option out of his usual centre-back position for Barcelona. Bayern recently made Thomas Tuchel their new manager after sacking Julian Nagelsmann.

Should a supposed £50m transfer become reality - the fee Bayer are said to want in the region of - Celtic would have a potential boost of well over £10m to their coffers

This guy would have been utterly class in an ange team. Glad we could make more money off him though.

Don’t actually think he’d work in an ange team cos our fullbacks don’t just pile down the wing…he’d be wasted in that inverted style

A fair bit of it receiving back to goal as well, where he'd be uncomfortable..

Much better hugging the wing and being direct..

He would have been a good right winger in an Ange team. Ange likes his wingers to be wide and attack the byline. Also given his pace he would be able to do what Abada does and sneak in to attack the back post.

One major difference is Dembele’s, big year for Lyon was the start of COVID 19/20, when they had their CL run and that scuppered the transfer market. If COVID doesn’t happen he probably goes to EPL for a big fee instead of Athleti on loan.

Frimpong is making some amount of money for us :giggle2:
Mind you, I still prefer Alistair Johnson.

The wild thing is your not IMHO being crazy at all. I think Johnson is the better all round player and would take him over Frimpong any day plus Johnson clearly enjoys being a Celtic player and has bought into who we are as a club which I never felt Frimpong did. But the money Frimpong will have earned us if his big summer move works out will be amazing and a big boost to our summer transfer kitty for sure. So hoping for sure that Frimpongs move works out and the bigger the price the better.

I do understand that train of thought, but at the same time, he’s a top class player with a huge ceiling.

I think he would’ve adapted and been class to be honest.

Although I’ve not actually watched him this season, only seen his stats and numbers…I can’t believe the progression he’s been on. Because although he looked like a prospect I never really thought at any point “that’s a top level player in there”. He was raw and obviously getting his first experience with us but I can’t believe how much he must have come on this year for the teams he’s being quoted as coming in for him
