Not surprising he’s getting so much interest, Leverkrusen got him for a steal and so did we. More money to reinvest.

Hasn't been picked for Netherlands. Koeman more or less said its because he can't defend. Koeman is a bawhum but I've never been convinced of Frimpong defensively either tbh

JEREMIE FRIMPONG has been told he WON'T be a part of The Netherlands' Euro qualifying plans until he improves defensively.

The former Celtic full-back has impressed in the Bundesliga but recently missed out on a place in Ronald Koeman's first squad back in charge.

Frimpong had been part of Louis van Gaal's World Cup selection in November but he failed to make it off the bench as his side reached the quarter-finals.

Van Gaal though resigned following the tournament, with Barcelona legend Koeman now starting his second spell and leading the side into Euro 2024 qualifying.

Even with Frimpong having been linked with the likes of Manchester United just months ago, it appears his chances of dislodging Denzel Dumfries as first choice right-back have taken a huge hit with the change.

Instead of joining up with the upcoming camp he's now part of the under-21 squad currently in Spain to play friendlies with Norway and the Czech Republic.

Koeman has now revealed this call was down to his 'doubts' over the 22-year-old's ability to defend.

He said: "No Frimpong? This is because of the system that we play in.

"He plays almost as a right winger. My right back should be able to defend well in the first place and I have my doubts about that."

Frimpong played 90 minutes yesterday as Leverkusen shocked title chasers Bayern Munich at The BayArena.

Xabi Alonso's side initially fell behind after an early Joshua Kimmich penalty but staged a second-half comeback with two spot-kicks of their own to win 2-1.

It's the latest in an impressive run of results under the ex-Liverpool ace, who was appointed to replace Gerardo Seoane at the start of October.

Frimpong has seven goals and five assists in 25 German top flight matches this season with Leverkusen currently three points behind European qualification in sixth.

See, that's the problem the Netherlands have atm. How far down have they come that they're focusing on defending? :giggle1:

7 assists as well. Mind our fans used to say he had no end product?

Putting that in perspective Florian Wirtz in that team, one of the biggest prospects in football, 0 goals 4 assists.

Diaby has 12 goals and 6 assists. What a partnership they two are.

Being heavily linked with Man Utd now.

8 goals and 9 assists in 26 league games. Ridiculous numbers for a full back.

Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly a transfer target for Manchester United.

The former Celtic full-back - currently at Bayer Leverkusen - has been linked with a switch to the Premier League side.

Frimpong, 22, left Celtic in January 2021 for an undisclosed transfer fee thought to be worth up to £11.5m.

However, it's reported Celtic retained a sell-on fee in the deal with the Bundesliga club meaning any future moves could land a significant windfall.

Now, Manchester United are claimed to have opened talks with Frimpong's agent over a move to Old Trafford.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plattenberg reports that talks were "very positive" between the club and the former Manchester City youngster's representatives.

He tweeted: "Excl. News #Frimpong: Talks between his agent Jeffrey Lemmert and @ManUtd have started! 1st round was very positive.

"Ten Hag admires the player. Frimpong is open to leave Leverkusen in summer. Contract until 2025.

    "Top season of the 22 y/o: 8 / 9 !"

Similarly, reporter for German outlet Sport1 Patrick Berger has claimed Bayer Leverkusen have sealed a deal for Brazilian right-back Arthur with Frimpong potentially leaving in the summer.

He states: "Done deal : Arthur will be a new Bayer Leverkusen player in summer.

"The 20yo Brazilian right-back completed medicals in. América MG get a fee of €7m. Contract until 2028.

"Jeremie Frimpong (interest from ManUnited) and/or Timothy Fosu-Mensah could leave the club."

After 4 years of hearing about Dembele moving for big fees, probably best not to bother until they've signed.

    Same happened with Mcgeady too.

Gotta be honest, if our sell-on is ACTUALLY that high I'd imagine he'd go for more so... Gonna definitely be held up to the Premier Premium standards. They'll want their money, and if we're due about £8M, on top of the £12M I think we got for him, then that's half of their fee...

If it’s man United buying him (which makes sense for him too to move back to Manchester) it’ll be for £60-80 mil no doubt as that seems to be the price they pay for anyone

I’ve heard 30% of profit made. They bought for £11.5m I believe so £40m would be £28.5m profit x0.3 is £8.5m or so for us. No bad
