    They actually dont though..

    Hooper in Bold, MURPHY not
    Minutes 1474 - 4054 (16.3 full matches - 45 full matches)
    Shots 29 - 166
    Goals 12 - 27 (2.3 shots per goal - 6.1 shots per goal)
    Assists 6 -6
    Chances Created 29 - 50
    Headers 10 - 189
    Passes 643 - 1278
    Pass Accuracy 84.1% - 55%

Hoopers stats are far better than Murphy's as well, again only except heading.

Passing absolute miles better, chances created much better, assists the same from about 64% less playing time, hitting almost 4 shots less per goal etc

Hooper scoring at the rate he did would have took 102 shots less than Murphy to score the same number of goals and played about 800 minutes less.

Aye, you're right. 5 in 10 in the Champions League and 13 in 23 in the Europa League.

Get over Hooper. Unless we can afford his transfer fee and his wages and he actually wants to return to Celtic, he's gone. Compare Vossen to the kind of strikers we can attract.

There's nothing to suggest that Hooper is a better striker than Vossen anyway.

And there doesn't seem to be anything to suggest that Vossen is signing for us either! :smiley-laughing002:

They've played in the same League in the same season and Hooper has done considerably better though.

Much better at passing, shooting, scoring, creating, assisting. Hooper also offside much less, only 3 times compared to Vossen offside 18 times.

Someone said Vossen played deeper this season but stats would indicate that he probably played higher up the pitch than Hooper. Considering Vossen was offise 6x the amount of times Hooper was, he also hit 74% of his shots from inside the box compared to only 70% for Hooper and Hooper averaged 5 passes per game more than Vossen even though Vossen averaged 8 minutes per game more than Hooper, so he was hitting more shots in the box, getting caught offside much more and getting a lot less touches of the ball(25% less) even though he was meant to be playing deeper in the pitch.

Hooper left because he was 'too good' for us, so any comparison with the players we're looking to bring in is pointless. He left Celtic a £5m player. Vossen's a player we can attract - if we're interested and we should be - and a good one at that.

    So?

One season means nothing. Plus, Vossen has a better European record and has been capped by a better national team 12 times compared to Hooper's 0.

Is Hooper coming back? Probably not. He left like Wanyama did and like Van Dijk will. We're not in the market for those players.

The championship is *. Daryl Murphy scoring 27 goals in the league shows that. Vossen has shown that he can do it in Europe which for 2-3 million is very hard to get in a player

We dont know, he could be for all we know.

Just comparing him to Vossen seeing as most of us wont have seen Vossen.

It's like saying McGeady's better than Jahanbaksh or that Wanyama's better than Gutiérrez. We sold McGeady for £9.5m and Wanyama for £12.5m and they both play in the Premier League. Of course they're better. :smiley-laughing002:

We develop players. Hooper, in many ways, is a finished product. We're not in the market for finished products.

But how can you say that?

Are you not questioning why Vossen is being loaned out from Genk to Middlesborough?

Also if the Championship is * why is Vossen only scoring 8 goals in 36 games.

He was loaned out to Middlesborough because he wanted to leave Genk. He had been wanting to leave Genk for 2 years before that.

Maybe because it's his first season abroad, whereas Murphy has plenty of experience in British football.

If you can suggest a striker with a better record for £2m, go ahead.

Sigthorsson of Ajax, I think he'll probably be available for about £2million, dont know if he's better as i've only seen Vossen about 3 times and never really noticed him but Sigthorssons a decent player. Better International record although club record a bit worse, Vossen averaging about 2.7 games per goal to Sigthorssons 2.9 games per goal, although Sigthorsson has played basically all his football in the Eredivisie slightly better League than the Belgian and Championship.

I'd absolutely love if we somehow got him
