It makes sense he's played alot if his career in midfield.

I think he'd.be a smart signing cause he clearly has a few years left in his legs and can play multiple positions

JEFFREY SCHLUPP has revealed he’s open to signing talks with Celtic over a permanent deal.

The on-loan Crystal Palace left-back is out of contract and up for grabs this summer

Kieran Tierney will be first choice, but boss Brendan Rodgers is looking for a replacement for Greg Taylor, who looks set to move on.

Utility man Schlupp, 32, admits he’d consider anything Celts are prepared to offer him beyond May.

He said: "I’m loving it here at the minute.

"Regarding next season, nothing has been spoken about.

I’m concentrating on this season, getting more minutes and winning more games.

"Hopefully I can finish off the campaign strongly, but everything is a possibility.

"I had to think seriously about coming here in the first place, and anything that happens in the summer will be a big decision for me too — but we’ll see what happens.

"As far as I’m aware, I have come here on loan.

That’s all that has been mentioned - play to the end of the season, get some minutes in.

"Play well, have some fun and we will see what happens after that.

As I’ve said a number of times, I have loved being at Celtic, and my performances have shown that, I think."

Rodgers is on the hunt for a new left-back as competition for returning hero Tierney, revealing Taylor is on his way out after failing to agree a new deal.

Told that Schlupp would consider an offer from Celtic, the Hoops boss laughed and added: "I bet he would!

"He’s 32, coming to Celtic, and playing in Glasgow.

"But that’s something between now and the end of the season we’ll look at.

"I don’t want to commit too early!

    Jeff’s a great boy, I knew what I was getting, he’s a good type.

"More than a great guy, he can perform and there’s more to come from him.

"Obviously we know we’ve got Kieran coming in the summer, who is high level.

"But we know we’ll need to have someone else if Greg moves on.

With Jeff, I think he’s got more to come.

"Schlupp has come in to the team, and it’s not that Greg wasn’t playing well.

But in those Champions League games — away to Bayern Munich — he was outstanding.

Yet he’s still getting to grips with being on the inside and going on the outside.

"He’s had a few months at it while Greg has had a few years at it and been superb.

"But I’m really pleased with Jeff, it’s been a massive move for him, coming to a big club like this, with the huge expectation here."

  3. Make him fall in love with the club and take him in the summer on realistic wages seems a no brainer.. like with Maeda being moved to striker I could see Tierney moved to centre half if schlupp signs and we don't strengthen at centre half...

  4. Would be great if we could swing this, versatile in so many positions. How much does money rate over regular first team play is the only sticking point I feel. Further glory him awaits should he remain. But if he feels his needs can't be met then I'll wish every success in the future and thank him for the time here, been a pleasure :84:

  5. Good squad addition, adds a lot to the group.

Needs to take more care on the ball - gives it away or gets disposed a a fair bit.

  6. He's surprised me, I expected him to be more awkward on the ball or maybe stiff or a lack of mobility since hes 32 and maybe more erratic on the ball with his passing and crossing or shooting.

But he's actually quite competent technically and fit and fairly sharp and can take the ball on runs through men and his shooting and final ball have been good.

Even the Taylor role of getting into the midfield areas he done well, not as natural as Taylor at passing and moving and linking up but was solid in the midfield areas the few times he played like that a few games ago.

Really good in the air as well, definitely needs to sign.

I used to be worried about Taylor leaving and the creativity and link-play he brought missing but with Jota back on the left it isn't really needed and Tierney coming in anyway he wouldn't play like that and then Schlupp is more Tierney style.

    Lack of mobility... 32... ffs :56: he's no a grandpa, he's a fit athlete.

  8. Just the way he was binned at Crystal Palace though, went from a regular starter for them for years to not starting a single match the last year he was with them even though he wasn't injured.

Made you think he'd dropped off a cliff.

It's happened with us before with Sutton, Hartson, Thompson even, Agathe at about that age although was 20 odd year ago and less common now.

100% would sign him on a free.

Him and Tierney on the left side of our defence is great business.

  10. Amazing how age can be a factor for some, but not others.

Schlupp is 32 and showing that he still has a lot to give.

Wanyama is 33 and has completely lost his legs, can't even keep up in the Scottish championship.

  11. Hopefully we sign this guy, would be a good addition to the squad as a utility player.

Some of it is how they look after themselves. Griffiths is only 34 and his career at a decent level has been finished for a few years now. Morelos and Shankland are two others who have fallen off a cliff after not looking after themselves properly.

Wanyama had a few injuries at Spurs didn't he? He headed to the MLS at 28 because I think he knew the end was near and he got a 5 year deal.

  14. I'm not sure how you can say that about Wanyama after a 15 minute appearance just cause he fell over. Pretty sure he'll be fine. Definitely past it but "can't keep up" is a bit far

  15. Money may still come into it as it's possibly his last contract but I think Im right in saying his partner and kid are still in London.

I think that's likely the deciding factor in any decision he makes.

In absolutely no way shape or form is a move to a mid table championship club like Millwall, QPR or Watford more attractive than champions league and trophies with us, financially they will likely be able to match what we would pay a squad player so it probably comes down to family. 4 months living up in Scotland with an international break half way through ,where he probably had bit of time me off to go back home, is easily doable, commiting to a year or 2 is very different.

  16. I'm not convinced long term, but for a season on a free, why not.
Long term we need to be looking for a young left back to be under study for Tierney though, similar to Valle (only better)

  17. Lubo was 33 when he joined gave us some of the most exciting fitbaw for 4 seasons id seen since being a fan

  18. The nick of him defensively..

Caught out under evey single ball in the box. At least 3 first half again. That challenge as well after just getting away with it seconds before was idiotic beyond belief..

  19. That was a lazy foul that led to the goal today. He should have known better
