He says on twitter that he hasn't signed for anyone and he's going on holiday for a few weeks to think his next move over.

When on form, Bothroyd is a far superior player than Long... You just never know what youre gonna get with jay though.

Id offer 20-25k, take it or leave it.. Like I said on his day he is unplayable, but towards the end of his cardiff career those days didnt come round too often. Just look at his stats before and after his England call up, off the top of my head i'd say he scored about 15 goals in 25 games before the call up.

Just seen on his twitter that hes been looking at schools in London for his kid.

Last i heard Bothroyd was in Glasgow doing a medical last week....lot of * i take it?

That's a good point mate, he's got all summer to decide. And the longer it goes on the less chance we have of signing him...we need to get it done quick if we want him simple as that.

Can see this summer ending up like last year where we're in for all sorts and end up with unknowns (although if they turn out as good as last years unknowns i'll be delighted :celt_2:)

Would be a great partnership, Jay and H88per, big tall lad heading the ball down and Gary putting the ball in the net.

EVERTON will finalise a deal for free agent Jay Bothroyd this week.

Goodison boss David Moyes has pipped Celtic for the out-of-contract Cardiff striker, capped once by England.

Bothroyd spent three years in Wales and was the Bluebirds' top scorer this term.

He netted 20 times but Cardiff blew their chance of automatic promotion to the Premier League.

And when they were swept aside in the play-offs by Reading, it convinced Bothroyd to move on.

The hitman started out with Arsenal and has also played at Coventry, Blackburn, Charlton and Wolves. He also had a spell in Italy with Perugia.

Everton manager Moyes believes Bothroyd, 29, can be as successful as Jermaine Beckford, who was snapped up on a free from Leeds a year ago and went on to score 10 times in his first season.

Bothroyd was the first Cardiff player in 111 years to play for England when he went on as a second-half sub in the 2-1 defeat by France at Wembley last November.

Well I'd rather have Long that Bothroyd, so I guess if Jay goes to Everton then they maybe won't go for Long.
