The money is there to properly sign a player.

This is very reminiscent of Rangers signing policy before they went bust, which makes it even more ludicrous, as, from what I've read on here and other places, Celtic have a lot of money.

Aye he's garbage. In the Scottish Cup final last season too, the St Johnstone manager came out and says he hopes he is played against St Johnstone in the final but knows he won't be because he's been poor against them, and true enough he didnt get a game.

And * want us to sign him :smiley-laughing002: a guy the St Johnstone manager knew wouldnt play against them cause how bad he was.

Signing loans with the option to buy for a couple of million at most and free agents is akin to the policy that saw the Huns die? Sorry? :smiley-laughing002:

    Celtic are financially healthy. :bbpd:

Ive not even seen him doing anything but I have seen Souttar of Dundee Utd and he's not even one of the top 10 centre-backs in the SPL. He's about Scottish First Division class, could he be good - maybe but the now hes no.

They had players on loan from Arsenal and Manchester City didn't they? I can remember it on FIFA (unless it was wrong). And I never said it contributed to Rangers going bust, I meant that, with their lack of money, they had to make signings like this. Which makes me wonder why Celtic seem to have to do it too.

And this guy doesn't come with the option to buy.

Just cause this boy plays for Man City youths does not mean he is gonna be a class act FFS.

How many young players have these big teams had who ate under 21 for their countries had so many caps and then done * all.

Like I've said hope he does well but we need players who are gonna come straight into the side and is he gonna come straight into the side?

Yeah, and after this deal the money is still there to properly sign a player.

The difference is that we'll now have a guy who we would never be signing also on the books for this season.

Look on it as a bonus if you want.

None of us know but theres obviously a good reason he's been brought in.

You were advocating signing a player who probably currently wouldnt even get a game for Aberdeen or Motherwell just so he wasnt on loan though.

Then how can you say is probably good then if you have not seen him play? He could be pish playing in a competitive first team game here.

I'm happy with this deal as I doubt we payed any loan fee, probably aren't paying all of his wages, and if we are they won't be much (despite City's reckless reputation), and he seems a good young player. Ultimately though as some have said in the long term this is completely pointless without an agreement to buy permanently, as he either does * and leaves to be soon forgotten, or does well........ and then leaves to be soon forgotten.

We are supposed to be a few years down the line on a long term, intelligent transfer recruitment strategy which involves buying young players for cheap, developing them and selling for a profit, increasing the quality of player and profit of sales every season. We've got the profit bit right but have absolutely * up and appear to have abandoned every other aspect of the strategy. We are meant to be doing a Benfica/Porto - selling 1 or 2 (at most) key players for big bucks a season, reinvesting that in youngsters on long term contracts, and keep progressing.

Instead we are fireselling all our top stars every season, replacing them with duds, and on top of it all are neglecting our own youth academy which is meant to be the cornerstone of our footballing future.

Getting annoyed by these contradicting goings on with regards to our signings. Ronny Deila before even Craig Gordon was signed saying "I don't agree with loans as i don't like developing other teams' talent for free" yet now we have three players on loan contracts?

As for this player i'd like to hope they at least tried to add a transfer fee into the deal as he looks a decent player. Like what's being said above though i highly doubt there is a fee involved anywhere, except to have his services for 12 months.

Well at 19 Anderlecht and Man City have both signed him and he plays for Belgian Youth teams, played games for Man City in pre-season, said he wanted to play first team games for them this season and Man City fans think he's a good prospect who could make the grade there.

He could be pish but I would guess he's atleast decent.

Infact if he wasnt atleast decent, Man City would probably have just sold him to us, why would they want to keep someone who they think wouldnt cut it there?

Yeah I think it's a panic loan and that's why he has been brought in, but that's just my point ink like it is with young boy from Dundee Utd.

Its not pointless. Its seemingly decent backup for our established centre half pairing. If he gets the chance and plays well, great. If not we haven't spent big and his wages should be low, even at City.

If he does well, the guys only 19, still years away from reaching the kind of prime that would see him breaking into the city squad, let alone first team. Nothing to stop us having him on the books for a couple of seasons, even three! I know the counter here is he's in the way of potentially developing a talent that we own, which is fair, but if there's nothing out there right now then this is a good flexible option, and if anything ever comes up then again, we can still pursue it, just terminate his loan if need be.

Never know, he may fall in love up here and sign for us, with city having first option. The list of possibilities are endless. What does it really mean: we have cover at CB for at least one season. Good talent, at little cost. Good enough for me.

Never have I seen him play and come away thinking to myself he would be worth signing. Think there's a lot of people over-rate these young DU players.

Anyway, never seen this guy play so here's hoping he can be good enough to jump straight in to first team action for us.

Anyone have an idea as to what kind of wages he would be on at city? I wouldn't be surprised if it was like 10k a week.

Will be heartbreaking if he turns out to be class, plays a season and then goes back to deteriorate on the bench for city because we can't afford his transfer fees/wages.

just watched this guys interview on celtic tv and his main priority on top of anything at whatever club he is at is is playing first team football with man citys recent 32 million CB signing along with vincent kompany and countless backups he isnt going to get that he said himself the best he was hoping for at city was a few cup game appearances i think we could get a surprise and the club sign him at the end of his deal
