Good news, if city had any brains though they'd keep him and give him a chance considering how bad their defense is atm. Hope not obviously as keeping him and virgil together for another season would be massive for us.

Would be incredible to get him again. We should offer him a good deal too like Man City pay him his normal wage then on top we'll pay him £20k a week. Really vital that atleast one of him or Van Dijk stay next season. As to find one good quick centre back will be a struggle, to get 2 probably near impossible one would no doubt end up a diddy.

Why would we do that if he says he always wants to play here :56:? He could be on £10k a week at City so you want us to give him £30k in total. Why?

To get him to come back, also doubt he's on near £10k a week at Man City, he was 17 when he signed for them, if they are paying 17 year olds £10k a week their under 19's probably have a bigger wage-bill than Celtic :56:

I dont think we'd be paying his wages either, as City are "using" us to develop one of their young players and his wages will be low.

Us offering to give him £20k a week to come back for a year might sweeten the deal and he's well worth £20k a week anyway.

If I had a choice between the treble and keeping those two I'd take the double and the players. I just thought there was no chance of it happening. Fingers crossed.

Don't flame me for the treble comment. I really thought it would be tough to replace them and cause a huge problem for Europe.

His contract is up this time next year. Get him on loan and on Jan 1st offer him 1m signing on fee and 20k a week. He is worth it. Or else just buy him outright now because Citeh are not going to give him game time.

He signed a new deal just before we signed him on loan though so it could be easily a £10k a week.

I wonder if City would be interested in some sort of deal where we take Denayer back next season, but give them first option on Van Dijk the following year?

I mean, of course it would be great if we could permanently sign both players on long term deals, but I don't think that's realistic. The prospect of signing 2 of Europe's top young defenders who have already built up a great understanding would no doubt appeal to them. In turn we would be able to get what Van Dijk is actually worth when the time comes, and maybe keep him here for another season which at the moment I feel is unlikely.

Take Denayer on loan and City sign Virgil and immediately loan him back to us. I'd take that.

If we get him for a second season i'd fancy us to sign him of a perm, City like Chelsea will just buy a international star every year and he wont get a sniff!

Does Denayer not have 1 year left after the summer?? Could be a Guidetti-esq situation if we get him back.

I'm quite optimistic he'll be back next season. I don't think he's good enough to get into the City first team and I expect a fair bit of upheaval there. I wonder how much game time he'd get if he got loaned to a Prem team too.

Would love to see him and VVD next season as we could quickly go from being a decent team to ordinary in one foul swoop.

The goals tally from them both as well as clean sheets make them key players and it will be almost impossible to replace them if they both move on.

That said who would have thought we would have got them in the first place !!

Good to see he mentioned that he could possibly stay another year.

This lad is top notch for me.
