I didn't even see the finish. Just caught the ball flying into the roof of the net. Anyone have a video/gif?

looked good today and I have high hopes for him this season now.

I'd still have Lustig or Ambrose beside Van Dijk on Wednesday though, bit too early to be throwing him into a game of that magnitude.

Just remembered Matthews picked up an injury in the warm up. I wouldn't be too surprised if Ronny decides to have Denayer in on Wednesday then.

Not a big deal, it was his first experience of first team football. Yes he made a couple of mistakes early on but the kid didn't make another mistake after that and put in some great tackles where I felt there was no chance he could get the ball.

Got a feeling he is going to fall in love with the club and fans! Really hope we sign this guy on a permanent deal if possible, his first team oppurtunities are going to be limited at City with the likes of Kompany, Nastasic, Demichelis, Mangala. He seems like the kind of kid that just wants to play football and doesn't care about money

Solid signing (even if it is a loan) and he will be a starter in front of efe I reckon. Good goal today and showed good touch and reading of game for the most part.

I was critical of us singing this guy but now that I've seen him in the flesh I will happily eat my words, few shaky moments but an absolute motm performance.

Without meaning to sound like a * to the bhoy, if that was true he wouldn't have signed for City! He would have joined a 2nd division club in his homeland and got a good few competitive seasons under his belt before a big move.

However, I don't blame him at all. He's still a teenager but is probably on wages that will take care of his family for life.

Very good prospect but I highly doubt he'll be at Celtic permanently.

Jason the Denayer. It's like having two VVDs.

Was a bit of a panic a couple of times when he got caught on the ball, but you get closed down a lot quicker up here than what he will have been used to.

Still very impressive, some great challenges and is very composed.

Excellent finish as well, not sure if I would go with him and Virgil for the Maribor game though, but if Matthews is out, Lustig might need to go back to rightback, so he may start.

Impressive debut. The technique he showed for his goal was quality for a centre-back. He does make me slightly nervous when he starts running out from the back with the ball at his feet though. It's as though he charges forward a bit then the ball becomes a hot potato and he's desperately looking for someone to give it to before he loses it.

Still less scary than Efe I suppose. :smiley-laughing002:

It seems he had a decent debut then from the comments? I managed to catch the second half where I thought he looked assured. although he should have done better with there goal IMO. I also seen his goal which he finished well.

I am a member of a City forum where we have a feature called 'loan watch'. Basically we all have a couple of players who we 'scout' and report back on there progress. This means I will pop by every now and again to have a look at what people are saying about Denayer and may ask about him every now and again if that is ok with you all? Don't want to be seen to taking advantage of you all though so if this is a problem then just let me know.

Shaky to start gave the ball away almost costing a goal then played a dodgy backpass but grew into the game and was quality deserved MOTM

    Racist.

    ;) kiddin'

As for the line up above. On what little we've seen of Berget, I would prefer him central.

I was impressed with both the new bhoys yesterday. Not a fan of the loan without option to buy but if this guy is tipped to be an EPL star, I can live with it. Let's hope he's just not good enough for Man C :)

While you are here. As a City fan what is your thoughts on the way your club has been transformed in recent years since being taken over by your very own billionaire? Obviously it has it's positives (to say the least) but is there any negative to it in your eyes? For instance some people believe that if this happened to us the sole of the club could be lost. Stadium naming rights being sold to the highest bidder etc etc. I understand the nature of the League you operate in but it seems that there is an increasing sense of fan apathy brought about by the obscene amounts of money in the English game at the moment.

Great debut, Few shaky moments in the first half but after that was solid and i'm more confident with him and VVD at the back. Efe played well yesterday as well

He was a bit sloppy in the first half, short with a pass back, caught in possession but he has good recovery pace and rescued the situation. Not going to hold it against him as it was his first game and once he found his feet he looked great.

Fantastic technique for the goal too.
