Plus we may just get lucky....man city defence has a * storming season, he gets told no * chance you will get games here next year and we loan him for a 2nd year.

All that depends on him being better than Efe.:87:

    Exactly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm generally not a fan of loaning players that we have no chance of signing, but when it's someone as highly regarded as this guy I won't really be complaining.

Something like this is more the exception than the rule I think.

It gives you an idea of how daft the market is, that a guy who cost 250k, with no first team experience after a year at the club, would be worth £10million.

Again you can use one unique example like Messi, was Messi ever loaned out? Was he not playing first team football at the age of 19? So what is your point?

This boy is 19, so trying to compare him with a 16 year old Messi is not the same is it?

And if Messi at the time at 16 could have walked into sides then why didn't they loan him?

The extremes you are using are not the best is it, but if you want to keep using them feel free buddy.

Plus the name calling has started when you don't get your way, I've seen this with our users you have had debates with, * sad really.

If you want to debate like adults then I will but if the name calling starts then I will just ignore you.

Again he is not a 10 million pound player, please provide me with evidence he is and I will agree with you, until then...

Man Utd obviously felt that he was worth the money though, otherwise they wouldn't have paid it. They must have thought Smalling had enough potential to warrant the price tag of a £10m player.

It might well be the same with Denayer. He hasn't been in the same boat as Smalling, as he has been trying to get game ahead of far superior players to the ones Smalling had to. I haven't seen him play at all, so I can't comment on his ability. However, I'm guessing Deila has seen him on numerous occasions, and he might feel that his current potential and ability, would make him a £10m player should someone want to purchase him.

Well, surely the manager of our club telling you that should be enough evidence? I mean, what other evidence is there?

What Deila said is most likely what he knows City would ask for as a transfer fee, right?

I would have had that, but this is the same manager who said it was pointless developing over teams players. So I don't believe he is worth that money.

Now if he said City wants 10 million then that's different, it's like Lennon saying Hooper was worth daft amounts of money a few years back, I think he is just trying to spin it cause what he said about loans.

Surely you can see the difference between just taking a loan of a player from a mid-level club though, and taking a highly regarded Belgian youth international on loan from Manchester City, right?

Again, if you choose to claim our manager is lying, and choose to do so with no real basis whatsoever (as i'm assuming you know pretty much nothing about this player) then that's your call.

You can't blame people for calling you on such a call though.

I think we can safely equate a 16 year old Messi with any 19 year old playing today. They didn't loan him because the education he was receiving at Barcelona was worth more than a loan spell at that point in his career.

Please provide me with evidence (think you're playing fast and loose with the meaning if you think you've provided any so far) that he isn't a £10m player. I haven't said he is, I've said he could be.

Most of us value Virgil Van Dijk at £10m or more. Is it really beyond the realms of possibility that he may be as good as Virgil Van Dijk, given his pedigree (Anderlecht, the academy the Touré brothers came through, Manchester City)? Ronny said he's a £10m player, did he not? That doesn't necessarily mean that a club would have to shell out £10m for him tomorrow, although I'm sure City would be reluctant to give him up, given how highly he is rated by people who actually know what they're talking about.

The thing for me is that I don't think Deila has arrived at this figure simply for fun. He'll have some sort of idea what City would be looking for if this lad was a transfer target.

When you look at the English transfer landscape £10 million isn't much at all.

Aye, I'd imagine they at least enquired about a loan with the option to buy fee. Who knows, maybe we could stretch to it if he's good enough (* no chance, is there? :smiley-laughing002:).

I think that even if we could, he'd more than likely knock us back to try his luck at City.

I mean, we can offer players a window to the EPL, but that's null & void when they're already on City's books, isn't it?

Anyway, he looks like an interesting signing. Let's see how he gets on before we go over the top! :smiley-laughing002:

I understand what you are saying but teams like city have sent countless young players who are youth internationals out on loan and nothi has come of it.

I think the manager is putting a spin on this because if his comments regarding loan deals, and this happens, but this boy is not worth 10 million like he is saying at all.

You are correct I don't know nothing about this lad, but he has done nothing in football terms to warrant out manager to price him at 10 million.

Also I don't see you and other name calling when they don't agree with my views, that's why we have a forum to debate and this for me is how it's done with replays like yourself and others.

Sorry fir the late reply, got cut off being on the train.

From that OldFirmFacts Twitter account: 'After hearing new Celtic signing Jason Denayer described as "The New Kompany", Ally McCoist insisted he was still the same club.'

Think he will do really well here.
