Absolute pish mate!. If you watched the game closely to watch the end he made about 4 or 5 game match winning tackles, we WOULD have lost that game with Loovens. 1 mistake from Maj and people are all over him, I really can''t understand the amount of flak he takes when he saves us tie and time again. It's the strikers and midfielders who should have put the game beyond doubt, not Maj.

1 mistake which led to us drawing the game. he is a poor defender. i do feel sorry for our centre halfs as our full backs dont offer any help to them as they are always out of position but for the size of maj that ball into the box should be bread and butter for a decent centre half. your quick to mention loovens so why not pick up when maj is at fault?? yes the game should have been put to bed but the fact is it wasnt. all we had to do was see out that last ball into the box but maj didnt and that cost us 2 points!

Everyone seems to agree that the league is the top priority and that the defense is in shambles and we HAVE to bring in an expensive centre-back. Curiously however we have allowed 10 goals in 14 SPL matches, 3 less than the next best Hearts and 5 less than the Huns. I think maybe another experienced defender should be brought in but honestly I think if given time I would be happy with Rogne and Maj. What truly worries me more than anything is if Hooper gets injured. Most of Stokes goals have been from the spot and I think it would be a massive blow if we lost Hooper.

I agree he should have cleared it but saying Maj is an awful defender is ludicrous.

In my opinion we need an experienced CB and if Forster leaves a new GK. Would also be good to get in a Striker incase we lose Hooper to injury.

Understand what you are saying, but there are 2 cbs, so its not just his fault! Yesterday he made some great tackles and kept Goodwillie from running amock. People jump on Loovens for a mistake because he doesnt do many things well, big dan does plenty well, one mistake - yes it cost us 2 points, but doesnt make him a bad defender. Partner him up with a quality cb and stop the full backs bombing forward all the time - or get in a defensive mid that can sit in all the time allowing them to go forward, then we will see the best of big dan!:icon_mrgreen:

as iv said before, i feel sorry for our centre backs as they get no help at all from the rest of the team due to the way lennon sets our team up. having said that i think maj is too often found diving in when he should be just standing his ground, he seems to be caught out of positition too often , he is very very slow and for a big guy he doesnt dominate in the air as he should. if we get only 1 good centre half in then i reckon any 1 of our centre backs would have a chance of forming a good partnership as none of them have had a chance playing beside a decent partner.

A complete central defender, with experience and pace should be our main priority.

I'd be wary of pushing the boat out too much in January in case we have to look for a new manager again next summer. I'd say it's unwise to throw money at Neil Lennon when his own future is still not certain.

If Neily wants to sign a centre-back in January then I'd let him go and do so but I'd draw the line at that. There also has to come a point in time where going out and buying 3,4 or 5 players every transfer window is not the answer anymore. How about getting more out of the players you've actually got?? I think the board have allowed Neily to bring in plenty of players, it's now his job to make those players do the business.

There's been way too much transfer activity at Celtic over the last 18 months. It's about time we got a settled 11 out on the park.

I think we need three players in January if we are to have a realistic prospect of winning the league. Two new quality centre backs, as I am not convinced by any of the centre backs on our books, and a new right back because I don't rate Wilson or Cha.

    Suggestions

Craig Thomson of Hearts for right back ( I know Hammer won't agree ) , but I have watched him closely in games, and I think Thomson is the complete right back, both offensively and defensively.

For centre backs I would consider Marius Zaluikas and Christophe Berra. Both are good in the air, and strong and composed on the ball, and have a bit of pace about them.

isnt it time to go with a settled squad. i'd only bring in the necessity which looks like a goalie and a central defender. but only if its pure quality.

I don't know why you have this fetish about Craig Thomson but I can tell you that he is no better defensively than Mark Wilson is. We need to tighten up our defence and signing Thomson would not do that.

    Zaliukas is guff.

Berra's a decent player but you'd be looking at a minimum of £4million to get him. I don't think he's worth that in all honesty.

I agree with Marky - shouldn't require a huge amount because position by position we have a vastly superior squad to anyone else, with the exception of CB. Even saying that the CB's we have are of a decent standard and it's frustrating to see standard SPL clubs abuse guys like Hooiveld and Loovens who on the face of it have played well at a better standard than SPL.

Rogne looks decent but not at this stage the world-beater we were expecting. Needs another good couple of seasons at least.

If we can get a better CB than Rogne, especially experienced then obviously would make a great deal, but no need to panic buy as that was the death of Mowbray. We've got a great squad and should be doing much much better, even as is.
