So does every single club in world football. Every club has deadwood and that becomes difficult to shift. The very high earners from Lennons time have gone (Julien, Boli, Barkas, Ajeti). McCarthy, which most people seem to point to now, probably isn't on the mega wages folk think he is. Most other players who aren't getting minutes are either going through injury spells or have only been in the door less than a year. I don't know what other deadwood you're referring to. Rogic and Bitton were on about £35k a week between them. Their replacements won't be on anywhere near that.

Even if we don't get £15m for JJ, we will still get a significant, profitable fee for him. It will be well over £10m anyways and if he has a good world cup, it could be significantly more. We can replace JJ and get a striker in for £10m. However, we have cash in the bank, we have an abundance of talent who can be sold for significant cash in our squad and we are in a excellent position to qualify for the champions league automatically again next year. We can put money to these deals if we need to.

This was exactly what Ange spoke about at the AGM. Selling players to continually invest more. JJ is more than likely for the off in January and I would imagine O'Riley is the big sale we will make in the summer. That's a minimum £28m we will make from these two sales. What that gives us the ability to do is then invest heavily in the areas we need to. No more will we be making £15m on players and trying to replace them with players at £2m. Ange has basically told us that he will gradually increase the investment when we make good money on players. If we did make £28m on O'Riley and JJ in the next 2 windows, I'd want to see £6m spent on a right back, £6m spent on an attacking midfielder and £6m spent on a striker. £18m spent on young, exciting talent who can learn and adapt from a top-class coach and manager. You also keep the * in the boardroom happy by putting £10m of that into the bank for a rainy day.

CeltsAreHere has been told by a reliable source that there’s expectations at least one new signing will join the Hoops at their Portugal training camp later this month.

Ange Postecoglou and Mark Lawwell have been working hard behind the scenes. The Celtic manager admitting they’ve got their ducks in a.L row for the January window.

Has to be Kobayashi? If he's a done deal like reports have been saying he could join up with us any time since the j-league is done, he just can't be registered to play til the window opens.

Juranovic cost 2.5, O’reilly 1.5, hatate 1.5, kyogo 2.5….spending on players doesn’t always guarantee quality so not sure if I’d like us to just switch to that model. We should always be trying to get the best quality at the cheapest price

It's all about resale value that's our business model. It's kept us in profit and works well for us. With ange he's bring that quality, who knows in a few years if he buys and sells well we can buy higher calibre players at bigger prices, but that take time reinvesting over and over again.

Kyogo was nearly £5m but I get your point. What I would argue back against that though is for all the O'Riley, Hatate, Juranovic sort of successes at that price tag, we have also had players like Shved, Bayo, Hendry.

The majority of the times we have spent over £4.5m on players, they have been successes. I can think of 3 players in the last 15 years who haven't been successful when we paid significant money for them, and they were all purchased by Neil Lennon. Even then, Julien doesn't count as a flop for me, we had one of our greatest ever away wins in Europe with him at the back but given his injury record I can understand why fans think he was a flop for £7m. Ajeti is a good finisher and I think once he gets fit he will be good for a team who play to his strengths and so far he looks as if he's playing plenty of games in Austria and chipped in with 2 or 3 goals for them and Barkas was just a complete nightmare that none of us want to happen again. Again though, he seems to be playing really well in Holland, seems to be playing regularly and has managed to get back into the Greek Squad. Some of us probably don't realize the pressure playing for Celtic can affect players differently.

On the price range I was quoting before (£6m on 3 positions).... there has been, on occasion when we have been priced out of a move for a player because the player was maybe too expensive. We aren't talking like £10m here either, we are talking about £6m or £7m. You're going to have far more success signing someone for £6m than you would signing someone for £2m. That's not to say we won't pick up a player for £2m and they will be successful, it's just pointing out that instead of going for one of the top midfielders in League One, we can maybe stretch out and go for one of the top midfielders in the Championship. Or it maybe means we can go for one of the top midfielders in Ligue 2, Bundesliga 2 etc. There are still players going for big money in these leagues who are excellent. Very rarely will we get a top quality midfielder from Ligue 2 or the Bundesliga 2 for £2m.

Yeah it was GG that was 2.5, but we've got 2 20 plus a season strikers for £8m which is amazing value for money. Either way £4.5m was nothing for a striker and he's right you don't have to spend bug for the best players. Good scouting isn't just about getting good players it's about getting good value for money.

Obviously another pretty much free Moussa Dembele wouldn’t go amiss but i agree it’s usually better to spend that bit more. Its the same with - if any club came to us with money, the more they had to spend the better player they’d get.

Get rid of the three duds we've got as defensive midfielders and bring one or two good wans in, also need a striker who doesn't miss many chances as that's been * us lately.

You would have to bring in 2 extra British players, McCarthy and Mooy count as British nationals.

He's married to a Scottish lassie and has also lived in the country for years, so qualifies due to citizenship.

Barkas and Ajeti are still our players, they are on loan. Nothing is to suggest they will be leaving full time unless the loan clubs activate the agreed fee which we will have to wait and see.
    McCarthy is on good wages.

So players I class as deadwood.

    Barkas
    Bain
    Hazard
    Scales
    Urhoghide
    McCarthy
    Robertson
    Soro
    Shaw
    Mickey Johnson
    Ajeti

As I said it’s IF’s and But’s about selling. Didn’t say we wouldn’t sell some of our best players to further re-invest but in last few windows we managed to get rid of loads of deadwood and it will happen again.

Who is to say O’Riley will be the big sale? Could be Jota, Abada other others.

Of course we will need to sell and reinvest like the manager said but there is still a good few players we need to get off our books first.

That's national duty, which isn't important really. What's important is spending 3 years between the ages of 15—21 in the country which Mooy never has done. Mccarthy could be replaced by Johnstone as home grown.
