Think targets will be central midfielders.

Could potentially lose/upgrade 4 players in there by end of season.
Oriley will go, think that's a certainty,
    Mccarthy will be moved on
Turnbull for me isn't good enough and is coming into last 18 months of his contract so a decision will need to be made on whether we move him on or keep on a new deal.
Abildgaard looks unlikely to be turned into a permanent deal at the moment
Ideguchi hadn't had a look in.

Think this break could be last real opportunity for either of Abildgaard n Ideguchi to stake a claim for more regular game time.

So we could potentially be left with needing at least 2 cms. We saw last year Anges forward planning when he brought in 3 in January knowing Bitton n Rogic were leaving in the summer so think we mite see something similar again.

In terms of him talking about using this break to prepare for summer i think a right back will be top priority with Juranovic probably away in the summer too. Especially if he has a good world cup.
Hopefully a striker is another being looked at that can make a difference at CL level.
Dembele on a free??? If only. What a difference having someone of his ability and self confidence/belief/arrogance would have made this season with the chances we created.
I also think a keeper that is more suited to playing out from the back is needed to fit Anges style. Hart has done well but neither he or Siegrest are comfortable with that style.

I'm expecting more out than in for the Jan window.

We could probably do with 5 new signings:

    2 CM's in the mould of Hatate/Christie/Rogic.

1 in the mould of McGregor but with perhaps more physicality to them

1 CB to replace Jenz who I don't think will be taken on a permanent

1 RB to replace Juranovic who I think will be our "big" money (£18mil) move in Jan

I think we'll only see two of those signed: 1 CM in the mould of Hatate etc... 1 RB. but I reckon Ange will then bring in a 3rd who will be ST/RW

Not for the lack of trying by Ange and the club but I got this feeling that due to end of WC - this Jan window is going to be a horribly tough window to negotiate in.

I honestly wouldn't be adverse to seeing a young Forster-esq GK being brought in.

A young guy, perhaps done well enough in previous loans in lower leagues, who's looking to try and get their career rolling.

Hart has been nothing short of being a superb bit of business - his experience, leadership qualities, even general form (which I thought of him not be capable) has been fantastic, but I don't think we should be going into next season with Hart or Siegrist as our No.1

If Ange walks the talk then I would expect to see one or two "ones for the future". 18-22 year old prospects with a view to phasing them in over time, e.g. an 18 year old that will replace Jota's starting berth when we sell him in 2027

I'm expecting a CB, RB, CM and RW. Also expecting to see Jura leave, McCarthy too, maybe Ideguchi. Welsh could go out on loan second half of the season.

I think it will be 3 or 4 in depending on departures of which there will be 3 or 4 too.

On departures first, if Ideguchi sees no game time in Sydney I would expect him to be heading back to Japan for the start of the new J league season. Juranovic may move on and he would be the difference between the 3 or 4. I think we want to shift McCarthy but he won’t go. I think the likes of Welsh, Lawal and Roberston may leave on loan or be sold in the case of Robertson given his deal is pretty much up.

On incomings we know Kobayashi is coming in as a LCB. I think there will be one CM who is more attack minded to compete with Hatate and O’Riley, either Gloukh (unlikely now maybe more chance in the summer) or Hugo Vettlsen who will likely move . I think we will also bring in a ST, we wanted one in the summer and were close to Mmaee only for it to fall down at the last hurdle. The 4th would be a right back if Jura goes.

I would love us to tie up a couple bosmans for the summer too, I think both or at least one of Raskin (Standard Liege) and Jacob Christensen (Nordsjaelland) would be good fits for our system and are both in their last 6 months. Raskin to compete with Hatate and Christensen as a more like for like McGregor replacement who is an excellent passer of the ball from that deep midfield position.

Despite signing Kobayashi, I still wouldn’t mind William Biandi from Roma on a free as a physically excellent while still being good on the ball left sided CB.

Also a long shot but Agustin Rossi of Boca would be a cracking signing as our long term GK again available on a bosman.

I hope we just go for quality over quantity and just sign 2 players a CB who will probably be Kobayashi, and a defensive midfielder.
I had hoped Abilgaard would have been the latter, but it realy doesn't look like it.

Normally I would be saying we need to start getting ready for next seasons CL, but as we are likely to win the league and so avoid qualifiers in July, then the next window will be fine for one or two more CL additions

Honestly cannot wait for the window..

    Centre half coming in
Guaranteed to be a centre mid in
A forward who can play the 9 or out wide. Maybe Mmaee as mentioned
Think it's very likely we'll want a replacement in for Juranovic....so can see someone coming in there and bedding in for the second half of the season

Would like a keeper but no sure we'll do that yet. Think around about 4 will be right..

    Ideguchi deffo for the off
    Robertson released
    Juranovic could go
Welsh out on loan at least

Then hopefully some options taken up like Scales to the sheep
    Ajeti to Sturm Graz
    Barkas

Get a few youngsters out on loan like Summers..

If Scales, Barkas or Ajeti leave on perms it won't happen until the summer. I think so far Barkas is the only one who will guarantee a reasonable fee. I imagine salaries will be a big issue for all 3 in general though.
I agree about Ideguchi, it doesn't seem to have worked and I think he will head back to Japan.

I don't see us actually getting that many in right now, the young cb from Japan, a box to box midfielder and possibly a right back if Croatia do well at the world cup.

Maybe but pretty sure Goodwin wants to go back in for a permanent deal for Scales in January. We'll probably get at least our money back for him..

We'll take a loss for the other two but who cares really. Even getting a fee and them off the books is a result. By all accounts they're both in good/decent form for their clubs just now..

We definitely need extra pace on the right wing, Abada talented as he is blows hot and cold at times, Forrest just doesn't have the pace or stamina for 90 minutes anymore. I'd like to see a pacy skillfully Jota/Haksavanovic type player over there as when either play on the right, you know they can both do a better job on the left.

Alfons Sampsted is leaving Bodo/Glimt on a free in January. 24 year old RB, looks fairly quick, should be all over him imo.

Wonder if that means a striker is for the off or Ange isn’t happy with all the missed chances

Celtic are set to ramp up their transfer business as they look to land a full-back and a striker in the January window.

Ange Postecoglou made rapid moves during his first winter window in charge at Celtic Park with Japanese trio Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi all signed and in place by January 1, and the club are taking a similar approach with the Scottish Premiership on hiatus during the World Cup. The club are lining up a replacement for Josip Juranovic as the Croatia defender heads to Qatar with talks over a new contract for the defender stalling

The 27-year-old arrived in the summer of 2021 from Legia Warsaw in a £2.5million deal and has established himself as a key man under Postecoglou, but the club have a contingency plan ready should the right bid come in for Juranovic . Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been touted as suitors and Celtic expect more interest following the tournament in Qatar.

Celtic are also understood to be targeting another striker to lead the line despite the impressive form of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgios Giakoumakis so far this term. The Japan cap has netted 11 goals so far this term, while his Greek teammate has chipped in with eight.

However, Head of Recruitment Mark Lawwell and Postecoglou are keen to add even more firepower to the Scottish league leaders. The pair are the only central striking options utilised by the Australian boss, with third choice Albian Ajeti being shipped out on loan last summer.

I don't think it's a surprise we're wanting another striker in. Music to my ears to be honest..

Hopefully someone who's pacey, physical and can bang them in..

    Buzzing for the window..

By the sounds of Ange we've clearly worked hard with this window coming up to identify and get our targets sorted..

Wouldn’t be shocked to see a announcement of signings on 31st December like last year.

this is the most relaxed ive ever been in terms of a transfer window ,maybe its because there is no european football but we are strong all over the park and its * great to be trying to improve from a position of strength. ange's ability to spot a player is probably why im so at ease whoever he brings in will do the buisness

Im with you on that, I think gone are the days when you worry about selling one player and not getting a decent replacement. Ange has been spot on with most of his signings, I've full faith that will continue.
