Surprised Sviatchenko didn't get a better side taking him, hopefully this means they are going to sign a quality centre back to replace him

Compper was always going to be the replacement for Sviatchenko, I'd bring in another CB at the expense of Boyata but it's much more likely that Simunovic would be the one leaving if we were to sign another defender.

I'd bring in a first team quality right back and get rid of any of the three of them, not sure any of them can cut it. Thought the "revolving door" comment meant we'd be getting rid of deadwood and replace them with quality as opposed to letting Armstrong leave and just replacing him with another squad player such as John McGinn for example. Still two weeks to go so hopefully we can see a bit more movement.

Surprised no ones mentioned that Brendan expected another signing before Dubai that never appeared?

Tbh I don't see any major moves.

Paddy and Oz coming back will bolster is and really should walk back into the team.

CB, and LB cover for me.

If anyone like a SA or Moussa leave we need a replacement, or maybe a Paddy replacement as I see him staying down south in one way or another next season.

I've said from the start that Brendan wont put up with * from the board. If the board mess him around and dont back him with proper cash then he wont hang around. I really hope this is not the start of it. I may be....and I hope I am jumping the gun...and worrying over nothing. But I just cant understand how we've made all that profit....2 years Champions League money.....and now the VVD cash and there still isnt talk about a top class signing.

I thought that Brendan would be pulling strings with his contacts down south like he did with the Dembelle and Scott Sinclair deals. There's obviously reasons for this....cause why would he not want to improve his squad????

I just hope the reason isnt that board are telling him "your not getting that kinda cash for a player...."

When a manager has a 73 game run with one defeat. Its probably a good idea to back the guy with the cash he deserves

A reminder that Compper can't play in the EL as well. I'd like to see another CB in.

Don't think the main issue is getting players in, I think it's getting players back to their performance levels of last season. Not saying all these guys are playing badly but performance level has dipped for KT, Jozo, Boyata, Lustig, Armstrong, McGregor, Sinclair, Dembele and Griff this season.

Pretty much the whole team there :giggle1:

You're right though, it was always going to be difficult to improve on last year, but that is a good argument for getting players in. Provides competition for these guys who were incredibly good last season to keep them hungry and fighting. Also makes us less predictable.

Still 2 weeks yet, we need to be patient. Majority of our business is kept quiet until the medical stage anyway so no point getting upset over a lack of rumours.

Br has gone on record praising the board and in particular pl and dd , I believe he would rather bring players on and enjoys the credit that comes from building talent ,so it may be more down to his choice , I have no doupt he would be allowed to break our transfer record if he wanted .

We need a winger, a no10, RB, LB, GK and CB. ST as well if Dembele goes.

It won't all happen this window but I would like those positions seen to by the start of the UCL qualifiers. Now isn't a time to stand still, the last 2 windows were underwhelming tbh and I'll be pretty annoyed if this one goes the same way.

I’d like to see more of Ralston and Miller before we buy a RB or LB... with Lustig and Gamboa on the right and Compper able to play LB too, not sure we’ll see the fulkback areas strengthened..

    The rest I agree with..

I dont think we need too many players , 1 or 2 will do me fine this window we have a strong settled squad.
But a couple of bits of quality would help AM/Winger and either a RB or CM if Armstrong's out any length of time.

Personally JC I don't rate Ralston as highly as others. Think he looks clunky on the ball and more of a CB if anything, in a back 3. Don't get the same feeling about him as I did with Tierney early doors.

I can see Gamboa leaving before the end of the month as well to get regular game time with the WC coming up (even though his place is pretty guaranteed, he will want to play).

I think the big guy Compper has been brought in for CB only, and, at 32, probably won't be getting shoehorned into LB, where he played with Hoffenheim occassionally 10 year ago. With all that in mind I think the full back positions, certainly at RB, should be looked at.

Definitely plenty of scope for improvement.
