Strachan rules out move by Keane

[IMG] Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has ruled out the possibility of signing striker Robbie Keane from Tottenham.

Keane had been linked with a move to Celtic Park hours before Celtic's 2-1 victory away to Hearts.
"I don't think that will happen," said Strachan. "I don't think a player like that would be allowed out on loan."
Celtic's two goals came after Craig Beattie came on as a substitute and Strachan said: "He gave us strength and determination and gave them problems."
Strachan had told his side that, despite being 1-0 down at half-time, that Hearts could not sustain their high-tempo game.
"Hearts did well in the first half, but we dug in," he told BBC Sport.
"We told them it would die down after 15 minutes of the second half."
Asked whether the 17-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premier League was enough to ensure that Celtic would retain their title, Strachan said: "We're definitely happy. "Hearts are definitely rivals and to come here and win is a great bonus."

Why not sign him in my opinion we need a good striker right now about the only good striker we have is Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink?

Decent quality striker i think. A legend is a player who can walk into any team (Larsson, Jinky) or Frank MacAvennie. I know all the ireland fans want us to sign him and he's better than Magic or Kenny "the hitman" Miller. But he's not THAT good.

We neither need him or want him here..

I'd rather have Beattie than Keane.

get real lads keane is a far better player than we have apart from big jan, he would stick away the chances weve been missing to put games away. high quality player imo.

stonewall i hope to * your the only celtic fan that would honestly say no to robbie keane or ill be very worried. he is a class act and not just an excellent finisher. imo he would walk into our team at the moment. beattie impressed me but you cant honestly say you would not start him ahead of keane. anyways cant see it happening in the near future.

Good point, can't really see us gettin' him in this transfer window anyway, maybe summer. But he is a better player than any other potential partner we currently have for JVOH. The boys pace is electric and he can finish. However, if we don't get a striker soon I'd like to see Beattie get a run in the side. I thought the way he came on and changed the game on Sunday merits it. He sems hungrier than Magic Z and he ain't a headless chicken like Kenny.

keane with the exception of VoH is a much better player than any of the strikers we have just now. How can people here say he's overrated, put him in a Celtic strip and he'll score for fun.

numpty:31: ..look at his international record(the highest quality stage) its second 2 none...plus robbie is also a great creator of goals...he can change a game in a second with a momment of skill...i too love beattie and agree him and jvoh would be * hot in the future injury free that being:50:
but robbie is a class act and has exceptional movement off the ball..unlike kenny he is a natural and has a great football brain and naka would be in his element threading balls through 2 robbies runs:celt_2:
