While it doesn't mean business is impossible to get done, where I will cut the club some slack is the January window last few years has been dead and not much happens across Europe anymore, let alone deadline day deals for first team regulars.

You're gonna pay over the odds to get somebody's top talent and most of the business is emergency loans, cover for injuries or shifting on deadwood to save wages.

Bizarre for us to agree to let Kyogo go for the above reasons though, particularly with nothing lined up it seems. Not even a backup plan to a failed move for Kvistgaarden makes us look really *.

Problem is even if we get a straight loan for 6 months at ST alongside Schlupp, it means it'll be a very, very busy summer window.

If both Schlupp and the loan ST don't stay past the summer and Hatate, Kuhn and Taylor all left (picking those 3 as they are the most likely to leave), it means we'll need a ST, 2 x Winger, CM, CDM, LB and a CB.

You'd also be hoping Idah can keep his form up until the Summer too.

    It's a big ask.

This isnt a defence of the board, but think some perspective is needed.

Theres a difference between the board selling players with no intention of replacing them, and selling players with the intention of replacing them. Quite clearly, the club has been looking to replace Kyogo. The points lead we have in league has probably reduced their appetite to pay over their valuations on targets and reduced the urgency on getting them in this window. We will replace him though.

Rodgers can legitimately feel aggrieved at failing to replace Kyogo this window. But he has a 10 point lead at the top of the table, a game in hand and the best resourced squad in the league. If he cant see that through to the Summer then thats on him too.

With the points lead we have I dont think the necessity for a game charging window was absolute. If we recruit badly in the Summer with a full season ahead of us - thats an entirely different matter.

It's not even just hoping he keeps the form from the last 2 games though is it?

If he gets injured/suspended we're playing Maeda through the middle or Kenny. We overpaid for Idah as backup to Kyogo. Kyogo was our number one striker.

Not denying we don’t need another ST just saying some folk are overreacting saying it’s a terrible window when it’s not been. Certainly looks like we’ve been trying to get one but with not much luck. If we’ve failed no need to panic buy now we can get to the summer with what we have up top.

My worry is if Idah and Daizen are both out, then we're in trouble.

Didn’t think he sounded that angry yesterday after the game. But that’s the only interview in last 24 hours, is there others?

To be fair, KT will be a summer signing so doesn't really count as a january signing. Schlupp in for Valle kind of evens itself out. So really it's just Kyogo out and Jota in, and some dead wood out through the back door.

It is pretty unforgivable to be sitting on 80m quid and decide that we can sell our best striker without replacing them. How many teams the size of celtic with that money in the bank, 3 months to prepare, and a champions league play off in the bag would decide just to run their luck with one striker for the rest of the season?

It's a massive ask. And again, will lead to issues in getting everything done.

I've been critical of Kyogo, don't think he was the same player of late. But to sell him mid season and then not replace, would be mental.

And even more mental is people defending it. If you'd have said that to folk before this window started you would have gotten a different reaction so I'm convinced it's a coping mechanism.

Someone called Eddie Pearson got his tweet posted on KDS saying he wasn’t in London on transfer business. * knows who he is or what that means.

Take your point but as I've said above i think not replacing your main striker and selling mid season is wild.

And also, as above, it leave us with so much work to do in the summer.
