I’m really confused as to what point you’re trying to make? They were two separate deals. All the evidence for that is laid out in front of us from multiple media outlets.

Rennes wanted to sell Jota. We made a bid and it was accepted. Do you think Rennes are refusing to accept an £8m bid for Jota, a guy they signed for less than that 6 months prior and is actively being pushed out the door, because we don’t sell them our main striker until a replacement is found?

I see Rennes sold their striker to Marseille for €20mil a week after buying Kyogo.

Strange that getting a replacement in before selling your player. Mad way to do business. Will never catch on.....

Letting Valle go before we had secured KT and Kyogo before we had brought in a striker.

Reactive and amateurish individuals infest our recruitment process.

They are not all that petty. But I think Kyogo was a player they targeted specifically and really wanted. We on the other hand were interested in re-signing Jota. But it didn't seem as urgent as them signing Kyogo. If we said no and they had a choice of bids for Jota from different clubs they could just accept the other offer and not ours.

Crafty auld managers like Alex Ferguson and Jim McLean used to put great effort into avoiding selling players to other Scottish clubs (especially Celtic and rangers) unless it was absolutely nessescary.....they did not see the point in helping to strengthen the opposition. They put the blockers on a few deals out of stubbornness and a general interest in seeing the balance of power shifting from the old firm to dundee utd and Aberdeen....which it definitely did.

This season we need a left back, a striker, a defensive midfielder and a much better replacement strategy for when players leave.

Plan ahead. We teach the children to do that. Our board and our recruitment team are all adults and didn't think to do it

I’m not denying that they wanted him and he wanted to go there. We sold Kyogo because he wanted to leave the club and had made it pretty clear behind the scenes that he wanted to go to France. It had absolutely nothing to do with signing Jota. We signed Jota because he’s a brilliant player who we know how to get the best out of and he was readily available.

I have no problems selling Kyogo. I think the club made the right decision. He wanted to leave, we got a pretty good offer. It saved us hassle of a player chucking his toys out of the pram for refusing the move. That being said, the club have known for months that he wanted to go and to not have even made any real progress in replacing him is exceptionally poor. Idah has done really well over the last few games but his form was iffy beforehand and going with Idah and a LW who can play striker up to now has been risky, one that hasn’t bit the club on this occasion.

25hrs yet so plenty of time.

Can probably still * about another 20hrs or so before we start looking at doing deals.

Kyogo doesn't strike me as the kind of player who'd stop trying and take the huff if he didn't get his move. He had 3 goals chopped off in his last game. He was trying.
It's just obviously not a good thing to keep a player that wants to leave.
I was raging at first....I was on here and I was totally raging. But the more I consider it. It was the right thing to do for us and him....

But you will not convince me that they could not have been a shitload more organised and have a replacement lined up. They've had 4 months since he stated his intention to leave. In which time we did nothing. Not a thing to prevent this exact problem from happening

    Still expecting 2/3 in.

Will know by midday on Tierney.

Expecting new bid going in for the winger, but also mention of another player/club being spoken too.

Talking to Brondby, still issue is how much is guaranteed and how much incentives rather than overall package. I was surprised at that given BR chat after game.

we were much further down the line with Arnie in summer by this time than we are with this.

My impression and could be utter nonsense is on a striker alternative we are looking at folk offered to us now too, rather than list we had if i call it that.

Cards being played close to chest on names but i’d expect names to break by late morning/lunch if stuff moving.

Didn’t get a laugh when i asked if we had called Benfica yet so might have burned my bridge!

See the thing for me about the argument of don’t go down the list just take a loan and we will get our target in the summer, does anyone actually trust the club to get deals done efficiently in the summer?

There is no evidence we that those behind transfers just now can do it, so why would it be better this summer?

Especially when you consider we are likely to be looking for a new first team centre midfielder, centre back, and possibly right winger. A left back to back up Tierney too. That’s before you then add a new striker to the list. We have shown we can’t manage to handle multiple deals at one time.

They will also have to work out what to do with most of the loans we have out if they aren’t taken on by their loan clubs. Hopefully Lagerbielke goes tomorrow or deal is sorted before the summer window. Looks like Nawrocki is staying just now with Scales having picked up an injury.

There will be someone coming in tomorrow but no idea what level they will be.

I reckon KT will go down to the wire, we’ll push and push and it may end up being down to the player to force it which he probably doesn’t have in him.

If we’re looking at a loan striker, given who we’ve had on loan there in the past, maybe means a higher level of quality for 6 months. Be interested to see the types of names floating about tomorrow.

Most are saying 3 in tomorrow, we know at least 2 are out of necessity, LB and striker , getting KT would be a real feel good signing.

One of the more reputable posters on KDS saying min2 and surprised if it's not 3 tomorrow.

He expanded on it a bit.

"We still want our number 1 targets and as stated by one of the posters earlier the dream of Kvistgaarden ,KT and the winger haven’t been ruled out but by the same token it’s not really fully in our hands with 2 of them at which point we’ll have to move onto other options. Buckle up it’s going to be a bit of a rollercoaster I feel.".
