Tonight is the reason we should never stop trying to improve the squad and constantly trying to invest more into the playing squad.

SPL is almost irrelevant if we invest correctly. It will take care of itself

 

We are not a million miles off a decent team. Really hope we push on and get the investment right in the team. Not moving forward you're going backwards.

 

I feel like the game against Villa highlights once again what we already knew.

1. We can score goals at the top level
2. We’re too weak in the midfield defensively.

It’s great to bring Jota back and any depth we add there helps too. Obviously replacing Kyogo is a priority, but we need to focus our resources on the centre of midfield. We need someone in there to control games and win us possession.

Everyone’s running around daft try to cover the gaps. You’ll see a massive improvement if you get an athletic ball-winner in there. That should be our number one priority now.

It’s frustrating this window has focused so much on wingers and attackers, but hopefully it’s something we deal with in the summer.

You sum it up really well. Could also add squad depth needs improving, especially when you look at our finishing 11-Cummins Murry and Palma.
Totally agree about midfield, Cal and a defensive beast, along with Reo would give us better balance in midfield.

 

Ball winner/DM absolutely vital. If Rodgers doesn’t address this during the summer, then, serious questions should be asked of him.

 

Did Rodgers say he wasn’t interested, or words to that effect, no?

I wonder if the board have been waiting to see what kind of opponent were getting in the playoffs before deciding on who to go for right now.

Easier tie, bring in the best quality we can get right now to try and get the £9mil for getting to the last 16.

The likes of Bayern or Real - bring in players with a view to next season.

Edit - by best right now I mean bringing in KT and trying for a top quality loan striker

I think with having been drawn against either Bayern or Real the board will realise that we won’t progress. All they need to stop the spending.

 

No they've stopped the needless spending on utter * projects. Rodgers would rather wait for top quality than unpolished rough diamonds that are just *. We don't need anymore yangs, we need more jotas. Hopefully we get a class striker though.

 

Need to get players in pronto, stop messing about and pay the money for the players we want.

Our bench last night was a disgrace and shows how weak the squad is, we need players in now, over to the board to get it done.

 

This window isn’t about the games in two or three weeks and never has been. It’s about ensuring we’re in the best possible position come August to get back on the Champions League and benefit from the riches that come with it.

Dare I say it, I think our board and recruitment team finally understand that.

Rodgers said last night we need improvements and that you could see that with what we had to bring off the bench, a few times now he’s said what he wants and what we as a squad need so will be majorly disappointing if we don't get a few deals sorted.
