Iwata was nowhere near it for us. Often got caught in possession. A very mediocre player.

Was sad to see Iwata go. Very capable squad player.

Think we could do with a defensive utility player whose best position is CDM. Someone who could do a job in any back 4 position in a pinch. A big strong athlete who is comfortable at CB and able to play as an inverted fullback too.

Someone like Ampadu when Leeds signed him would be ideal. Think he was about £7m, only 22/23 and can play CB or as a 6 pretty much equally well (both at a high level). I wonder if there's any other players knocking about in that price range with a similar profile.

For those who are in love.....
So we've known for months Kyogo was going..

Must have that striker almost there at the very least. Hopefully Kvistgaarden..

    Kvistgaarden
    Jota
    KT

Then maybe another winger or centre mid to bed in with Hatate at least being likely to go in the summer?

    Think that'll be our lot..

To be honest of it's Kvistgaarden I can't see us bringing in another winger like Orjasaeter and definitely no Barry on top of Jota....as there'd enough flexibility in the front line to interchange them about if need be..

So if we get a 4th, I think it could possibly be a loan to buy centre mid. Would give us 6, 2 for every position for the rest of the season..

His lack of awareness and movement also made other players around him worse. I hated seeing his name in the team!
He was neat and tidy and had basic technique, though. Basically, he and Bernardo are mirror images of each other IMO.

If you could merge his basic technique with Bernardo's awareness, movement, energy and physicality, you'd have an incredible player. Or, more realistically, if Rodgers could train Bernardo to have Iwata's basic technique.

A quick search shows me these 3. All look like promising players with scope to develop and at different price ranges. I think all within our reach if we wanted them. Good with the ball can play more than one position, big and athletic.

Maybe I’m too caught up on the fact that we can only register three new players for the next round, but I’ll be surprised if we sign any more than that to be honest. Jota, Tierney, and a striker (be it Kvistgaarden or whoever) will be it for incomings this window - which obviously isn’t too shabby.

I think the right side (competition and/or a replacement for Kuhn) and the midfield (Hatate’s replacement and whatever else) will probably be the main focus of the summer window.

4th could potentially be a project player with potential, maybe that young CB that was linked a few weeks ago.

If the 3 signings are KT, Jota and Kvitagardeen I’m not complaining tbh.

Can anyone answer, we can add 3 right.

But, as we've removed Welsh(brought back Murray) for homegrown CL quota, could we not add KT as homegrown..

And make 3 subsequent changes, so bring in 4 this window?

    Not clued up..

Ur only allowed to make 3 changes to squad after group stages.

Murray doesn't count as he qualifies for b list. That's why he was able to be named in the squad the other night

In terms of the 25 man squad. Tierney would replace Welsh so allowing us to keep full squad of 25. As striker in to replace kyogo and Jota taking either Palma or Valle's space

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he plans to add a striker to his Celtic squad this month with Kyogo Furuhashi set to join Rennes.

The Parkhead boss expects Kyogo will join the Ligue 1 side officially in the next 24 hours as Jota makes the move in the opposite direction.

However, Rodgers is hopeful Celtic will complete more business this month as he admitted he needs another striker with the Japanese forward leaving the club.

Celtic have been planning for the January window and to replace Kyogo after the forward first revealed his desire to explore a transfer exit months ago.

"As I said, it's been in the making for a while," Rodgers explained.

"So there's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes and hopefully, we can get someone to add that strength to our squad."

As it stands, Rodgers would have Adam Idah as his main striker should Kyogo's proposed move materialise, however, Daizen Maeda could be an option centrally.

The winger has played through the centre on occasion for Celtic and Rodgers would be confident to field him up front again - even if not as a long-term solution.

"He can do that, but I would still want to bring in another striker. I think he can play there," said Rodgers of Maeda's capabilities as an out-and-out striker.

"If you look at Daizen’s numbers, I'm not sure exactly what they are. But when he arrived here, he came in here with something like 23 goals in 30-odd games. So he's a different profile of striker.

"But the two games I've played him in as a striker, he's scored five goals as a striker. At Yokohama, he scored a hat-trick, and then earlier in the season against Hibs when Kyogo didn't play, he scored two goals and was a threat. So he will get goals. What's been really nice is to see the numbers that he's able to get off the side.

"But I still think that we would need another striker in. Definitely we would want to bring in someone else

Three is still one more than I expected at the start of the window. I don't think the squad needs wholesale changes. Even one good player coming in can make a big difference to a squad. I'd be very happy with Jota, Tierney and a striker.
