Don’t give them across the road any ideas, we’ll see the first ever empty gingey bottle transfer in Scottish football

We should just loan them money and ‘forget’ to ask for it back later.

That doesn't matter, he started working and paying in tax in France in August 2024 and had untaxed foreign earnings that same year. Because they were untaxed earnings, he would have been liable to pay tax to France on those Saudi earnings between January (not April in France) and August 2024. However, because of our double-tax agreement with France, he will not be taxed on this again. HMRC will share a portion of the revenue already collected in France.

My assumption is that he would qualify for split year treatment for the year he left because he did not return in that same tax year. I could be mistaken here and he needs to be absent for a full Apr-Apr session for this to apply. If this is the case, he would need to wait until the Summer window to move back to the UK or otherwise pay full income tax on his earnings between August 2023 and January 2024 (after which point he is liable to France, not us). But my understanding is that he would qualify for split year treatment and not be taxed on his foreign earnings in 2023-24.

    * knows about the in and out of taxation fuckery with Jota, I think the issue with Jota is more we’re not in for him and the scant links to him has been lazy journalism and more importantly I don’t think he wants to return, happy to keep his time here as a good memory and special time for him and wants to prove himself elsewhere.

When he was here he loved to travel and experience other cultures, there’s that and also he’s the type of player with the drive to prove himself, he done that here and hasn’t managed to his next two moves. Coming back here is an option I think he’d view as him having failed and coming back to comfort, having not been good enough. And that’s unacceptable.

You just know we're waiting until 10pm deadline day before doing anything.

McGowan saying we looked at Dorgu, left back from Lecce last summer who man United are now looking at for 40m. But we opted against it to wait for Tierney to become available.

    Hope its worth the wait.

As I said before if we don't do anything incoming it wouldn't bother me.

I had hoped for 4 in this window but 12 days to do looking very unlikely. Maybe focus on outgoings more.

Think Tierney would have been here in summer had he not done the hammy and Valle was the last minute back up

Hmm. I haven't a clue whether Dorgu is worth the hype, but if true this does seem a bit short sighted.

I love Tierney as much as the next guy but there's nothing to suggest that he'll suddenly be injury free when he returns. Then we're stuck with the likes of Taylor starting 6-8 games in Europe again.

    I'd agree.

Obviously its just one quote. What I would say is Tierney will be worth the risk on a free but also it shouldn't have stopped us going for someone like that for a reasonable price. Even for a year or two with the view to Tierney coming back and proving himself fitness wise.

Dorgu is 6ft 2, powerful. Would have been ideal.

You wanted 4 but it wouldn't bother you if we didn't bring in any?

It would bother Rodgers and most fans, we'll definitely add...

To be fair, I think a lot of clubs could be holding off until the end of the CL/EL/ Conference etc … I’m fairly confident we’ll get a few, maybe not 4 but 2 or 3.

Think we will get 2 as a minimum.

There's not been a lot of movement across the board and in general I think transfwrr windows are a lot slower moving than they once were.

We must be one of few clubs in the world who have actual cash in the bank and aren't running at a loss with millions of debt.

Good position to be in. Id be happy with 2 good quality additions that can improve us immediately. And maybe 1/2 young ones with potential.

    Would agree with that.

It's true though. When you think of it how many clubs have say £90m or whatever it is just sitting there without having to worry.

Doesn't mean we can't reinvest some mind you. Could spend 15m this window alone and it'd be covered by Johnston, Bernabei and a few others leaving. Wild.
