I'm not making excuses for him but he seemed to go out of favour with Brendan Rodgers. He was scoring tons of goals the season before and suddenly BR tells him he's bringing in someone to help take the pressure off him and it all goes south after that. He hardly featured and then we got wind of the mental health issues. He seems to be a player who needs to play and to be loved. He seems to feed of all that. This great goal scorer falls out of the picture all together. Then we get word of a different injury every other week. When on the very few occasions he has played he has either scored or been involved to some degree. Unless you have some hard evidence of him being a poor professional? I'm genuinely interested in your point of view. I want to understand what it is that he is doing wrong?

You are. Are you serious about not knowing what I'm talking about? Here's a few quotes dating back to 2014. As I said, every manager he's played under at Celtic has commented on his lack of professionalism off the pitch, in terms of keeping himself fit and in shape.

But I guess they're all wrong and it's not his fault.

    Ronny Deila in 2014

“Everyone knows what they must do to develop and that’s for Leigh also.

"Playing matches is important but being a 24-hour athlete is important as well and that goes for everyone.

"What you do in matches is important but also to be very aware of what you do every day in training and off the pitch – we have a big focus on that.

"There has been no problems with Leigh off the pitch, that’s not why I say this.

"But he needs to get fitter.
Of course that is about playing games but it also comes from hard work in the gym and also off the pitch."

    Brendan Rodgers in 2017

“Leigh has to work on every aspect of being a professional.

“Talent is not enough. He’s a real good kid. A really good boy and I want to help him. If he can really focus in on outside of the football field he can be a consistent player for a number of years at the top level.

“If not, it might prove to be very difficult for him. He is a brilliant boy but you have to change because it is not by coincidence that he is injured consistently.

“If you are not training well then you go into a game and then because of the intensity it catches you out and you feel a bit tight. But not if you are used to it and you are doing it all the time.

    Neil Lennon in 2020

“I’m not happy. I think that’s fairly obvious by the fact that we’ve left him behind.

“He’s come back out of condition and overweight. Any physical work we asked him to do he was coming out of saying he was injured.

“That’s going to be the case because he’s out of condition.

“So it would have been absolutely pointless bringing him with us. We had an extensive week in Loughborough and he wouldn’t have been fit to play the games here in France.

“The ball is firmly in his court now in terms of getting himself in the right condition.”

Yep well you can't argue with that evidence. I wasn't aware that he was that bad. I got the impression RD thought most of the team weren't doing the right things and I just thought BR didn't fancy him. I knew that his personal life was very chaotic to say the least and that it was messing with his head. But as they say whatever he does or doesn't do outside of the football field has to have an impact. It's hard to understand though why he's still here at all. I genuinely thought that he was getting picked on. I wonder why he doesn't take in what they're saying though? He's surrounded by professionals like Broony et, al. As you say after reading all that they can't all be wrong.

If this is the case then I am really surprised he is still with us. I appreciate he has personal problems but so do a lot of us and I bet my bottom dollar that he will get all the best professional support the club can provide.

Not expecting much in January. The summer will be our time to rebuild a new squad and surely with a new man at the wheel. Expecting us to take in money we have never seen the likes of before for players such as Eddy, Ajer, Christie to name a few. Hopefully a fair chunk of it will be reinvested. 10 or no 10 these guys will move on I’m sure.

Would sell Nicham, Ralston, ElHam and send Duffy back.

    Try get FF back.
Bring in a right back, experienced pro maybe a loan.
Need center halfs, especially if Duffy and ElHam go and potentially Ajer in the summer, so look to bring in at least 2 for the long term and maybe one short term. Hendry (I know, I know) seems to be doing well in Belgium, not sure if he is due back this coming window or is he a complete waste of time? I know he was rank rotten when given his chance but is there any hope for him?
Dont get the Paddy Roberts thing, cant even get a start in a bang average Boro team, ship has sailed for me.
And with Jamesy likely out till Feb, maybe Boyle would be worth a punt. We are thin on ground right side.
Up front, guess it will depend on Eddy going or staying.
Reckon we are pretty much covered in midfield and left flank, especially with MJ coming back in.

I think that it will all depend on whose manager who stays or goes. In the current climate of Covid and Brexit who knows what's going to happen with clubs. Sooner or later something has to give if the game is to survive overall. The grass might not always be greener and the moves might not come at all.

Absolutely, if we bring anyone in - I can only assume that some combination of Lennon/JK/Strachan/Lawwell will be sticking around - so it would be a complete waste of time IMO. I'd rather we brought no-one rather than anyone approved by this group.

I'm all for Lennon out, but not for complete self-sabotage.

I don't expect or want Lennon here next season even if by a miracle we win the ten, but if the board are insisting on imposing him on us until the new year then we need to see new signings.

Honestly will need to see who goes in Jan,it might be a case of replacing eddy or Christie rather than buying what we need just now.
Someone to replace duffy in the team,2.2 goals per game has to be addressed before anything else, and a right back if elhamed goes. Defence is our worst area.

Maybe lenny has decided its better to buy than keep players who do not want to be here, both those players have had contract offers and not signed them, eddy is in rotten form unless playing for France, think he is on 2 goals in 9 or 10 games.

Both will be sold between the end of season and before 30 June to balance the books. Why the * would you sell them in January? Hoist the white flag while you’re at it.

The only possibility would be if we get pumped at ibrox and the club acknowledge that the league is now over (I can’t see them doing this). They may then consider starting the fire sale early. Lennon’s review will be due early Jan and he’ll be gone too

We lose Edouard, Christie ect and replace them with * like Martin Boyle we wont be winning the league this season or next.

Get a new * manager and we don't need any signings bar a RW and a better replacement for anyone that leaves
