If we don't have a buyer for Petrov and can't afford him then why bother with talks ?

I dont see why we, Celtic should be living off PSV's scraps.. IMO Celtic are a bigger club than PSV, better fanbase, following, stadium, History.. We should be getting better players than PSV so why are we going after players they dont want?

Mate, no offence, but PSV has been the bigger club for at least 10 years now. We play CL every season, became champons 5 times in the last 7 years in Holland. We have a bigger budget as well and worldwide we are way more famous than Celtic. I'm not looking for a clash here but I think you're underestemating PSV strongly.

Vennegoor of Hesselink, by all meanings, is nót a scrap. He is our nr1 striker and when he's fit(almost always) he is our striker. But he's just not the type of striker that we need at PSV, and he is 27 and has always only been playing in the Netherlands, so for both sides it's okay if we seperate. You just have to pay the price that PSV asks, if Celtic doesn't, then they don't. We don't mind if he stays :).

Have PSV played in a European final in the last 3 years?

Have PSV played in 2 European Cup/CL finals?

Could you take 80,000 fans plus to any game in a foreign country?

Have PSV ever won the European Cup/CL?

Do PSV have over 52,000 season ticket holders?

    I could go on.

We almost played in the Champions League final 2 years ago yes, we got knocked out by AC Milan in the semi-finals after a goal in 89nd minute in the 2nd leg. We beat the * out of them, but they scored the last minute. Elsewise we would have played the final against Liverpool and we would have certainly won that one.

Yes, we played in more than 2 European Cup/CL Finals.

No, we couldn't take 80,000 fans to any foreign country, and I don't see the relation with the number of fans to the quality of the club?

PSV has won the Eurocup 1, yes.

We have 35,000 season ticket holders, because that's the capacity of the club.

Stop nagging, you know PSV is better the last 10 years.

Murphy7 I think you are underestimating PSV, and overestimating Celtic!
Even if you were close whats your point, grasping at straws, because of the negative direction Celtic are being taken?

Thank you very much hubert. I'm not looking for a clash here at all, but this guy seems to think that PSV is a crappy club, we're one of Europe's finest. If someone here says that why Celtic would get our 'scraps', because Celtic must be 100 times better than PSV, it's just sad.

I'm always amazed by the amount of Celtic-supporters that travel along to foreign games, I respect your supporters and the club's culture, so why is someone disrespecting PSV like this?

Its quite simple, we have fans that are Walter Mitty types (dreamers) that is, and we have fans that are apologists, they back a negative Lawwell, Board, and majority shareholder, that are NOT going forward football wise.
And there are fans who can understand the great game of football no matter the player or team.
I dont live in the past, its gone, I live in the now, and tomorrow may never come, especially with those people running the Celtic football club!

I got bemused at the comment that worldwide you are a bigger club.

I'm a big PSV admirer but I'm getting slightly peed off at the anti-Celtic brigade that slags of our great histroy. Tomorrow is always most important but to disregard it to make a point is ridiculas.

PSV were brilliant against AC Milan and I felt sooooooooo bad when Ambrosini scored. I watched you's beat Lyon when Gomez saved some crackers. I think Hidink (sp) is one of if not the best manager in the world and I think it will be tough to continue your success without him. So I'm not underestimating PSV but imho we are a bigger club.

PSV have been more successful in the last 10 years yes, but not a bigger club.

The board have spent £10m the past 2 season and the combined total of Hesslink and Shaktar's captain is another £10m.

My problem is with GS, not the board.

You fail completely to recognise the problems, for a big club with big ambition, playing in a small league with little money in the way of tv and prizemoney and in turn this has a knock off effect to merchandising, sponsorships, investments and advertising, players wages and transfer fees.

You think that by just having a large fanbase we should be able to compete on a level footing with any club in Europe and the fact that we won the CL back in 1967.

By comparison, Dutch and French Clubs have the advantage on us because, better standard of a league, they make millions more from tv and prizemoney from their FA's, thats excluding European income. In turn they can attract the better players younger like Ronaldo.

These problems are outside the control of Celtic, they just have to adapt to the changes when they happen. If you can't see that then you're an idiot.

You're right. PSV isn't a world-class club but we have a great great scouting.. If Vennegoor leaves we may are able to buy a new farfan (our strikers in the last 15 years: Romario, Ronaldo, V.Nistelrooy, Kezman*, Robben, Nilis and now Farfan) or maybe Makaay for 9M euros., that's why the most PSV-Fans wants that VOH leave. Celtic is a great club with a great history and great suporters. And a bigger potential than PSV. We both play in a weak League and thats our problem.

Ontopic: So VOH is a good striker also for PSV, thats why PSV is asking 5M pound. And if a club buy him we have enough money for a good replacement and a RB.

*in PSV time he was great
