So what do you think of him now? :)

Btw I saw some people comparing VoH with Hartson but you can't really compare them, Hartson is more of a powerhouse but VoH can do more then that.

I think VoH is and excellent mix between Hartson and Sutton and as I watched the game from today I think Celtic will get a lot of joy from him.

Hope you do well with him in the Champions League like PSV did the last couple of years, some people are now already regretting that VoH has left PSV as we haven't bought a replacement yet but I'm sure it'll be a good one only I'm not hoping for Kluivert :)

Oscarito: i think Jan is a guy we were looking for! He was great today... for the 30 minutes showed more than Miller for 13 matches! Was amazing in the air (i think he won every header ball), sharp on the ground (looks like he has good technique!) and what is more looked great with Zurawski (Jan almost scored a header after great pass from Zurawski. they were both dangerous playing together!)...

    FANTASTIC!

Hartson cant run ... VOH can
Hartson is way overweight and a lazy b.. VOH is not.
Hartson is past it... VOH is hitting prime (27)
Hartson cant last 90 minutes now... VOH can.
Hartson is Fat ans Slow .. VOH is not.
Hartson is good in the air .. So is VOH.
Hartson Scores goals .. So does VOH.

    hows that for comparison

.. we are well shot of hartson tbh .. and replaced him with a better .. / fitter / whole new prospect altogether .. I.E. theres no comparison. :50:

When JVOH scores 108 goals for the club in his time then come back with that, I have no doubt we'd be top of the league if we kept Hartson becuase thats what we missed up front a big man like JVOH to win the headers and stuff and Hartson done that for 4 or 5 years for Celtic and i think you should give the big man a break!

Jan looked class as ive said in other topics before really changed the game and i cant get the wee song out my head :84:

hey man i loved bbj hartson as much as anyone but .. i think another season would be a bridge too far ... he is done man , cant last the pace no more and will be very injury prone .as with sutton has been found... was a prolific player/ scorer for us but. alright he scored his first game for WBA 2... hes not scored since and also merely came on as a sub the other night for them.... ya could say the same with varga , lennon , thompson etc tho all past sell by date ... i feel a lot more confident now tho that hartson has left and VOH is in place ... should have been sooner tho pre-season. right enough ... but its early days man .. were top of the league. =). for now at least.

Forget comparing him with Hartson, Sutton or Pierre, the guy looks the part. He's built like a brick shithouse, he's good in the air, he has a good touch on the deck, he's a consistent goalscorer and now he's a celt! Jan IS DA MAN. Turned the game today, won every header he went up for, linked up the play brilliantly and then scored the winner. I have a new hero, first thing monday his name will be on my shirt!!!

To be fair it was agaisnt a league 2 team the other night they didnt need their big guns out, You said Hartson was overweight but he was always that weight when he came maybe fatter and he still banged around 108 goals in so why does it matter?. Hartson can run he'll never be the fastest but he certainly made runs in the box lots of times to get himself on the end of headers. It may have been a step too far this last season but i think to turn down a bid of 1 million from pompey in January then for us to let him go for 500k was a ludicris move.

Greendave it will cost you £40 quid for the shirt and bout 80 to get his name on the back :56:

it was a ludicrous move to let bbj go for 500k i concur .. especially there was no immediate back up at the time ... he was on too much money tho probably i think that was one of the main factors.. and personally i think strachan didnt want him anymore ... or the board told him to get rid. great servant tho theres no doubting that ... i just think times move on etc... players come n go...its pretty clear apparant that strachan dont want anyone that o neill left / told by board to cut age / high earning oldies..... hes trying to build his own side to be judged on.. and that we will.

The Celtic kit manager may need some time to get used to it, but one thing is for sure: new signing Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink will wear the Number 10 shirt of Scottish champions Celtic. Pics United present the first few pictures from Glasgow.
[IMG]© Pics United - Vennegoor of Hesselink.Champions League
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink proudly showed his new green-white kit on Thursday, although his name was not yet printed quite symmetrically on the back of his shirt. The former FC Twente and PSV striker feels this is a step up for him in his career.
He will make appearances on the European stage with Celtic, who have been paired against Manchester United, Benfica and FC Copenhagen, following an exciting draw. The Danish champions pulled off a shock result by beating Ajax, which is not a good thing for Dutch football. PSV are now the only club to represent Holland in the Champions League, for the tenth time in a row and for the eleventh time since its introduction. Ajax’s elimination may have far reaching effects: Holland drop precious points in the European rankings, so the number of UEFA tickets may be reduced in accordance with the UEFA coefficient ranking.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has other things to attend to, such as moving to Scotland with his family and scoring goals for a renowned club.

Taken from PSV's website. I think I've found my favourite Dutch club:50:

I liked him. He won every ball in the air he went for and seems a lot more mobile than Hartson was. Only time will tell if he scores at the same rate the big man did.

    Until then though,

    Give me a J...
    Give me a A...
    Give me ah * that!

Missede the game unfort but saw the highlights and it feels theres a real buzz about the place now. If we can get Graveson as well then PL and WGS have done fantastic in the mkt this week.

I feel the side is really coming together and will only improve as we go on. Give us Graveson and i'll be over the moon

Looked class on Saturday and we have been craving for someone like this since BBJ left.. If TG comes in I think we could mount a serious challenge getting through the CL group.. Put it this way, id put a lot of money on us being involved in Europe after Christmas... One way or another, UEFA or CL.

P.S. This has to be one of the longest threads ive ever seen on TC :84:
