The articles on the BBC site just say he wants more money, and that the deal is in limbo.

Lets just wait and see I guess.

yeah but if you read through the last few pages on here people seem to think its a done deal because it was on radio clyde last night and a few fan sites. Nowhere else has reported that he has signed. All im saying is that im not getting my hopes up until its 100% confirmed

There are a couple of threads merged and maybe you've read posts from when people didnt know the deal was on the rocks...?

Lets say the deal is done. Im happy, but not impressed. the guy can assist with his head, but does that solve our finishing problems? dont get me wrong, I dont speak of the devil and the devil shows up, but im just not sure if he will be our new saviour.

considering the fee as well, still think its way too much, but he will prove me wrong hopefully.

Totally agree Marty, we need a big guy but £5M and £30k a week for this one? Don't think so. £4M and £20k at the most.
Only seen him once, he was brought on instead of Van Nistelrooy when Holland needed a goal against Portugal. Didn't impress me much.
His team mate Kuyt is a far better prospect but he's gone to Liverpool.

I understand the fact that he is not that well known and people havent seen him that much.
But you cant judge a player on 1 performance. Kuyt also has similar qualities but he didnt do well lately. VOH has always been a decent player and I think you should be happy he would even come.

Kuyt went to Liverpool .. his dreamclub .. VOH feels good about Celtic .. one of the reasons is ofc CL and the supporters .. like he said. . .. these 2 reasons are also why he stays at PSV :)

He is not like the other strikers we used to have like Kezman, Van NIstelrooy .. they scored a lot of goals .. he scores less but he can certainly let others play well since he doesnt loose balls and always works hard. A player for Celtic i'd say .. since your competition is based on hard working and physical condition.

The amount of money is a right price. You cant get this player for several millions .. if you want him so bad pay for him I'd say to the Celtic management.
He is a player that can score goals, let others play well .. works hard .. good attitude .. plays in the national team .. and he would bring a lot of money if you put the entire name on your shirt :) :D

Its on the back-page of the Sun saying "Celtic Get There Jan"

JOVH will become a Celtic player in the Next 48-hrs, It says that Peter Lawwell was last-night Close TO clinching the deal for HIM-JOVH

It also says that when the Draw is being made on Thurday-24/08-06 for the CL-Group-Stages Celtic will be ready to unveil Hesselink.

Personaly thats ace news coz Celtic have beat clubs such as Porto-:47: -2003:47: Benfica and Bolton in the race for his Sig!!!

Lawwell's protracted negotiations appear to have paid-off----AND NOW BARRING any Last-Mintue hitches he is ON HIS WAY TO CELTIC!!!!!!!!:50:

(JOVH is ment to be signing a four-year-deal which will earn him £6-million and his weekly wage is £28,000 grand a week,Only Bobo+Petrov get more!!(£11-million altogether in the deal to take JOVH to Celtic)

So its not all done+dusted but Lawwell will know if Celtic don't get JOVH the supporters would have been baing for his blood thats why i think we have pushed the boat out for JOVH

Well said, personally I think if he comes he will do a great job for us. He is the type of striker that we are used to at Celtic.

The guy will be better than big bad john n probably score more goals as well, but his price tag is abit mental. Sayin that if it means we dont need to play kenny miller then brilliant

I bet you he scores more CL goals than Bellamy or Crouch.

Bellamy's a class act IMO, he will thrive being with a quality side and score plenty of goals. If he doesnt get 20/30 by the end of the season, i'll gladly eat my words.

yeah a good mix there, if i'm being completely honest the ICT game although we werent exactly brilliant we still managed to get a fair few crosses in, but good crosses get made look like bad ones when there is no-one there to get a head to it. I reckon with the big man up there our football will look a lot more productive, and hopefully get us some better results.
