Vardys whole career has been about beating the press/high line and running into open space to score 1-on-1’s or finishes in the box. Two things we hardly every get chance at as defences play deep and we never pass to our strikers feet in the box as they’re usually marked by two players.

all our in the box goals come from headers or wingers arriving at the back post/in space.

he’d demand huge wages regardless of 0 transfer fee.

Vardy's game is about balls over the top for him to run on to. Given that about 90% of teams we play park the bus how is he gonna do anything for us?

 

The kinda space he'll get against the huns then and deffo trouble them..

As a backup type option maybe but no as a main striker. Kinda kicking the can down the road..

 

Kind of feel I would be in the minority here, but for a year we could do far worse.

He got 9 goals and 4 assists last season, still got some quality to him.

Understand why some people wouldn't be as keen, and maybe im just desperate at this stage of the window.

If we sign Jamie Vary it shows exactly where we are at as a club right now. * all ambition and operating in the dark ages. Absolutely zero plan to replace outgoing players and zero recruitment/scouting strategy.

I'm talking myself in to it for the reasons @HTG is saying above. I'm getting desperate..

Maeda didn't do too badly as a striker against low blocks. Vardy still has a bit of pace for his age and is very clever with his movement..

He would definitely score goals for us domestically, even if i would rather go a different route..

Hasn't played since May so will take a while to get up to speed. He's free so board will be wanking themselves silly as well.

 

See if we cleared the deck at the start of the season and signed a quality striker and Vardy as the rotational/alternative/backup - fine. No issues

But the fact we've basically signed projects and punta that clearly aren't hitting the mark, done * all about to all summer and now likely to actually chase Vardy in to the last two weeks just screams of the * we are famous for now.
Short term, kick the can, no real recruitment process that gets completed etc etc

It's a desperation signing if we actually go for this now.
And wasted all summer when he could have been here at any time during it, pre season, training gelling with the squad yada yada yada.
