    It'll be the old "I signed off on it" situation, but they aren't players he has scouted/earmarked/wanted for his squad. Hart and McCarthy are players we have chassed for years, waiting for the right time to get them on a free/cheap and make it look like we swim with the big boys making EPL signings.
    It is what it is.

    But to be honest, we need bodies in badly, that I will accept these sort of deals because they clearly are an improvement on some of the players we currently have. But they aren't great investment, nor the best players we could realistically attain.

    Of course they aren’t. In the same way Carlton Cole, Kazim-Richards and all the other has-beens we have ever signed aren’t.
    I’ve no idea why our board make these signings…. Shirt sales? TV money? Our name in the English press? Christ knows.

    They’ll have been brought up as options I’d imagine and Ange has probably ok’d them.

    2 signings of decent pedigree on paper and hard to turn down when our squad is in the state it is.

    That feeling of being underwhelmed remains. It's really hard to feel positive about things just now as we seem to have this hodgepodge of a team. It's hard to see how they can all work.
