James Forrest

For at least 4 years now I’ve been saying he’s unquestionably a legend and it’s been largely met with resistance. He absolutely is, him being out the picture for a while and the resurgence at the end of the season that he’s had, and being key for us getting over the line and the team clicking to an extent has gave a reminder to people just how huge he has been over the years for us.

15 seasons in, over 100 goals, over 100 assists, over 400 appearances, one of the most highly decorated men in our history. An absolute key man for 9 in a row and a quadruple treble, influential for our first ever CL away win and a record group stage from a Scottish team. Both points wise and goals scored.

Celtic fans have always had an odd relationship and view to Forrest, and in the twilight throws of his career I feel like we’ve realised as a whole just how lucky we’ve been, influential as *, and loyal as *. As recently as January he had 3 offers on the table, had no interest in leaving Celtic and honestly, if he did, we might not have done it.

 

You’re totally correct. For me we’ve won the season because of 4 main points.

O’riley dragging us through those * months.

Hart saving us umpteen times when O’riley tailed off a bit after the Atletico interest.

Idah coming in and making an instant impact and turning some pivotal games around.

forrest coming from no where to steady the ship, score vital goals, and completely raise the game and mentality levels of every player around him.


Obviously it’s a team game but for me without those 4 we wouldn’t have won this

 

Said it before and I'll say it again - if Jamesy is smart he'll easily go another 2-3 seasons, just needs to adapt his game, play more of an Aaron Mooy type cog in attack.

Crazy end to the season for him, a goal and a win on Sat and then Euros squad, would be unbelievable and probably one of the most satisfying seasons for him..

If Forrest plays the 1st 5 matches for us next season and plays in Scottish Cup final this weekend with all of those as a sub then he will have played 150 matches starting as a sub and playing total of 500 matches for Celtic joining only 17 other players who have reached the 500 appearances milestone for Celtic.
Currently started 144 matches as a sub and on 494 appearances.
With all those figures it means he has actually started approximately 70% of his matches

 

Delighted for Jamesy. Not a player who deserves it more.

 

What a way to finish a season. If he gets game time can see him shining. Just the sort of player Scotland will need.
