Ah, I thought you meant the one crossed to the back post where Naismith made a balls of it.

    I think he's improved.

Quite simply it looks like he's accepted his crossing is poor. I now see him more and more feint a cross check back and either pass or dart into the box to shoot or pass.

Far more effective for him as a player and better ball retention for the team.

We get reasonable deep crosses from Lustig, I like Mikael's delivery and prefer deep crosses where we still have deep cover to thwart counter attacks.

I'd like to see our byeline cross to conversion stats. I have an incline it ain't the greatest.

I digress, he's improved as a midfielder and I think he had to, all he really had to begin with was good pace, an attribute that doesn't often carry through to latter stages of a players career, so developing other attributes, improving his all-round midfield game is a necessity.

He appears to be getting stronger, close control is better and holding the ball and rolling a player looks to get him some success. With his checking back and 18-yard box movement and passing, he may become a decent inside forward if he can improve his shots.

    ::

I'd like to see him adopt a more wide to central role, minimising his high impact runs which seem to rip his tights too often leading to time off the pitch. Minimising this by cutting inside and using short bursts of pace may keep him on the field consistently. I'd like to see him become a 10-15 goal a season player if utilised in the right way. Potentially a Commons moulded player.

He's always been decent. Just needs confidence and consistency.

Can mix it with the best of them when he hits top form.

I began to doubt due to his injuries and crossing ability. When Deila arrived with the 4231 formation I thought he was done and dusted but dare I say it Deila and his formation may actually benefit Jamesy long term with the requirement to come inside more frequent to link up play.

In 5 year he's managed roughly 20 games a season, one season he had a high of 29 games with 7 goals.

I'd like to see him get to that 30 games a season, 10-15 goals mark with plenty assists.

He's 24, he's hitting that period where you'd expect his role to be defined, so it's probably good timing we're seeing a slight shift in his style of play from winger to inside forward attacking mid type. He can go wide if he needs to but he's learning to cut back and recycle the ball, pass it inside the box, hit a shot or committing a defender by running from outside the 18 to in.
As I mentioned in m last post, he's gonna need to try and rely less on pace and develop his game further to compensate when the young legs aint so young anymore.

25-27 is a perfect age for him to get some consistency and develop in to a player capable of changing games, getting the man beat and either scoring or supplying the team with assists.

    Keep it up!

If he just cuts out his constant cutting inside and added good crossing to his game he would be unstoppable.

Who is he meant to cross to?

He cuts inside because he is told to do that.

If it was cifcti upfront id like to see how constant crossing to him would work.

Griffiths is pretty superb in the air. Even at that though, he has the ability to go round the outside and square it to people arriving in the box.

He tends to either go wide or cut in, he chooses one way a game, he's at his best when people don't know if he's cutting in or going wide. That's what I want more of.

Griffiths is the only person in there usually against 3 or 4 defenders, we don't have enough people gambling on crosses.

Agreed about getting to byline and cutting it back though, we've been using that to good effect recently.

    Not good enough.

Been half decent lately. He's been getting praised because he hasn't been as * as usual. But i personally still don't think he's good enough.
