James Forrest

Forrest has been one of my favourites ever since his first season, but his consistency since Rodgers came in has been unreal

 

Im honestly surprised no one has tabled an offer for him,we need to get his contract sorted asap as he has been superb for almost 2 years now.

 

His performance in the home leg against Bayern last year is one of the best individual performances I've ever seen from a Celtic player. By far and away the best player on the pitch that night.

Was never a massive fan but really turned my head last season and looks like he could be our most important player this year if early form is anything to go by.

A new contract is a must at this point

 

His performance against Bayern last season was beyond levels I thought he was capable of.

Thought he was a shitebag for a while but he’s really improved in every department in the last 2 years

 

Letting Forrest (and Broony as well) get down to a year left on their contracts is another example of how Lawwell gambles with peoples loyalty for me. We shouldn’t let it get down to such a stage where they can go for free in 6 months.

 

I can see him getting a 4 year deal within a couple week's..

He destroyed Alaba in that home game. I've never seen an elite player like that turn and basically run away when shooders was going at him..

Looks even better the start of this season. More ruthless..

James Forrest ahead of #CELLIV: "There’s obviously a buzz about the place to get the league started so everyone will be looking forward to tomorrow.


JF: "When you’re successful there are always games coming up. It’s a quick turnaround but we need to focus and be ready right from the start."


JF: "It’s really positive around the place and all the boys are feeling high in confidence but we know we need to make sure we go into every league game and not take anything for granted."

JF: "At Celtic, every season the expectations are always high. You are expected to win. We’ve got a big squad, a lot of good players and we’ve coped with it. We’re confident we can continue to cope with it."

JF: "Last season was, for me, the best I’ve had at the club. I just want to keep working hard and hopefully if I do that, the goals and assists will come."

JF: "I’d be delighted to talk to the club and extend my stay. I’ve had so many good years at the club. I just want to keep working hard and playing as many games as I can. I definitely would love to stay."

 

back to his best unfortunately, cutting in and passing it back, not taking on his man, LB had him contained the whole game.

with no Roberts breathing down his neck trying to steal his starting spot the Forrest of old is back. can only hope this was an off game but I unfortunately doubt it.

 

Forrest has to do a * of a lot more than picking the ball up on the halfway line and playing it backwards.it's infuriating he needs to receive the ball facing the opposition goal or get turned and run at people.

 

Like him and it's great to see him doing well, but it's a prime example of our stagnant transfer dealings. While Forrest will contribute to cups, leagues, qualifications, he'll never take us up to the next level. It's not our most pressing concern (well actually I think it is right up there), but we need a certain spark to turn these 1-1, 2-1, 0-0's into better, more convincing results.

Not solely a dig at Forrest, if we had a top quality, UCL standard left winger, he could be good balance on the right, but we absolutely need something else out wide and in forward areas. Sinclair isn't it and Morgan/Arzani/MJ are either very likely too green or just not going to reach that standard.
