I've always been a fan of him so I am myself, last season a lot of people were still fairly harsh but in fairness I don't think anyone can criticise him now. Just hope if his form drops (Happens to everyone no matter how temporary) people don't jump to give him abuse. He's earned a lot of respect, must've been hard aswell being dropped for paddy who isn't even our player officially when he was playing blinders for us. It's great to see some of the talent in the squad

Happens all the time with a player.

Hard work in training every day for James getting a chance.

Surprised nobody down south has been looking at him... Maybe they have who knows. Would love to see him get player of the year. Especially this year with the whole team performing well

Hoops winger James Forrest believes he is in the best form of his career – and has attributed his displays to the influence of Brendan Rodgers.

The Scotland internationalist became the first Celtic players since Bobby Lennox to score in three winning League Cup finals with his opening strike at Hampden on Saturday afternoon.

However, aside from the goal, Forrest was arguably Celtic’s best player against Motherwell. His display was in keeping with the manner of his performances in the high pressure games for Celtic this term and the 26-year-old has attributed his sustained form to Rodgers.

“I do think that I am playing some of the best football of my career,” he said. “I just think that I feel really fit and confident.

“I just feel as though I am playing in a lot of the big games and really enjoying being in there. That is what everyone wants to do. It is where you want to be and I am just loving my football at the minute.

“A lot of that comes from the manager. He has made it clear what he expects of us as individuals and as a team. I think it is clear what he wants but he has also created a really strong mentality too.

“We just want to win. We want to be as successful as we possibly can be and I want to have a part to play in that.

“It always feel good to know that you are making a contribution. We went out and won the first silverware on offer and it was nice to have a role to play in that.

“I enjoyed the goal but I always do! It was great to see it go into the net but we were calm. I think we always felt that if we just kept on doing what we were doing then we would get our rewards and that’s what happened.”

Celtic and Motherwell will be sick of the sight of one another come the end of this week, with the teams meeting one another three times in a seven day period.

For Forrest, though, it is all about maintaining the current domestic grip that Celtic have held since the arrival of Rodgers.

“I think that is up to 65 games now without defeat but it isn’t something that we ever talk about or think about,” said the winger.

“It is always just about looking to what we can do next. It is a busy period that is coming up for us and we want to keep the same form going.

“If you think that we have had the Champions League qualifiers and then the games in the group, we have played a lot of football. But we have maintained a high standard in most of those games and that comes down to thee manager constantly driving us on to keep it going and not let our form slip.”

Even when people (myself) were criticising him, it was justified. On the whole.

His career here was teetering on the edge for a while. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Incredible turnaround. And he ain't the only one.

A lot of the criticism was well over the top, don't get me wrong he could be frustrating at times. But our support seems to reserve our harshest criticism for our homegrown players as McGregor found out too..

Never understood this, they should receive extra support and patience..

100% correct. Quite sad really. It only takes foreign players to have a couple of good games and the fans are literally singing their praises (many of which turn out to be poor players), this was never the case with the likes of Forrest. As you say, hard to understand.

Always been a fan of Forrest as he's even an asset to the side when out of form with pace and work-rate helping out the full backs. His performance v Bayern was pretty special though. Would like to see more of that.

Wingers with tricks are far more frustrating than a direct styled player out wide.

Admittedly they were players I previously thought weren't good enough, moreso Forrest as he'd had plenty game time in a Celtic shirt. This last 2 years they've both been incredible though.

Really do deserve a song, the both of them are Tim's living the dream.

Fair enough, he's a Tim to me though if he's an academy boy who plays for us for 10 years +. No true Hun could do that :giggle1:
