He hasn't been injured in 8 months now. Ever since Ronny started handling him differently.

He is going nowhere. I get the feeling he is very important to Ronny and what he wants to achieve. Keep him fit this season and he will be very important for us.

You couldn't fail to be excited at his performances in the second half of the season and the prospect of what is (hopefully) to come.

Bolton can * off. Having said that this is probably make or break for Forrest this season coming.

    Some of our supporters logic:

-I want us to develop youth
-Forrest and McGregor can get te *

On his day he is very effective and can roast any full back. I dont get why he gets abuse, he is a young player who has had a hard time with injuries. It could still turn around for him if he stays injury free and he is worth a lot more than the quoted figures, injuries or not.

Forrest is 24 in 13 days,

On his day, he is, as you say a real handful for a full-back. However he's pretty inconsistent and his injury problems are well-known.

Wouldn't be against Ronny giving him one more season to prove his worth, however anything north of £2.5 million I'd consider as not bad business.

Agreed. The fact that people still see him as a youth player says a lot about his development since hee first burst onto the scene as a 19 year old. I can't honestly say we'd really miss him if he left, so definitely a possibility of this happening if the price is right.

Thank *. Any time I see this thread bumped I instantly think "how longs he oot for now".

Personally think he'll play an inportant part next season. He's being managed differently and can see him getting back to his best

His (lack of) development has absolutely nothing to do with his talent.

He will be nearly a year injury free by the start of the season. A fully fit James Forrest is worth at least £5m. It's utter lunacy to consider punting him for buttons before seeing if he can stay fit.

No chance he's worth anywhere near £5milion. If people are daft enough to pay it then fair enough but I'd accept anything over £2million. He's so ineffective in games and has no real attributes to interest any teams with that kind of money.

His passing, technique and shooting are all poor most of the time, coupled with the fact he's inconsistent and regularly injured means no one will be stupid enough to pay that kind of money. There are far better options out there.

He is lightning quick, great first touch, good link up play and he has been injury free for nearly a year.

He has a * ton of "attributes" that teams are looking for.

He's twenty-four on the 7th of July and he's only played thirty plus games in a season once.

    McGregor isn't good enough and he's twenty-two.

The players we should be looking to develop are Henderson, Thomson, et al.

How long have we been waiting on this one good season? If he weren't a product of our academy, we'd have cut our losses long ago. Give him another season if you really think he's worth it, but I've a feeling he'll spend at least three months out with injury.

Because he has had a horrendous time with injury, not a lack of talent.

Ronny seems to have found a formula for keeping him fit. If it continues then we have a player on our hands, no doubt in my mind.

Forrest is a great player, just suffers from injuries. I don't want to sell him, and now his fitness is being monitored properly I think we will see the best of him this season

Maybe slightly harsh, I'm far from his biggest fan but he is still a very good player on his day. I think this season is his last to prove his worth with us though. He's been injured so much and you can tell with his rare appearances that he's playing within himself and looks worried to get a knock, or make a mistake and get jeered.

Very effective and hard to defend against on his day tbf to him.

As much as I loved Lenny he didn't half mismanage James Forrest. The second the lad was 70% fit he would be thrust right back into the first team. The end result was the inevitable breakdown a game or two later.

I think he ended up waiting till he was 100%, then would play him 3 times a week rather than ease him in.

Which would lead to a breakdown.

Give him a season to prove himself then but if we're still where we are a year from now, we need to let him go. Mackay-Steven is proof that there're excellent wingers out there, within our range, who can play fifty games a season.
