The amount of people who are throwing about numbers and saying they would sell is staggering!

We are trying to build a team to win the league and ultimately restore our reputation in europe, you don't do that by flogging your players to the highest bidder.

It would the wrong move for the lad to move down to Spurs imo.

Keep him for another season and hopefully he'll perform well in the CL or the Europa increasing his value.

i agree for the most part but i think if they were to offer a few million plus one of their better reserve players (dos santos, kranjcar etc) then it would possibly benefit us in the long run.

I just don't see how. We don't need the money and I'd rather have Forrest than either Kranjcar or Dos Santos. What have they done lately?

If we were desperate to sign for another position then fair play but selling Forrest at this stage is a step backwards IMO and that's not what we're about right now.

    Totally agree
More direct and better end product than mcgeady
And IMO has more of a consistent Impact than Maloney at this age
although wee Shaun did have better players to compete with

Pavlyuchenko is definitely more talented than any striker we have on our books.

Harry's already said he's not looking to buy Forrest, so I'm not sure why you're telling them to * off when they haven't made an inquiry. They're just looking, as all clubs are allowed to do.

Seriously, what did you expect to happen with the progress that Forrest has been making, his age, and his inclusion in FIFA's 13 Young Players to Watch? That no one'd look at him, and that he'd stay here forever without a single decision to make?

Would only sell for AT LEAST £10 million. Forrest is a vital part of our squad.

I just hope we can hold on to him for the same amount of time we did with Aiden McGeady or possibly even longer, though with modern football I wouldn't be surprised if an England team snatches him and hogs all the talent again using money as a lure and not the promise of being able to win trophies.

    I cant believe peoples valuations.

McGeady was far more experienced and a better player. Yet we only got 9.5 million for him, and only because a club in Russia was mad enough to pay it.

Forrest realistically only has around 1 seasons experience and has won basically * all. Good player with unknown talent but in no way shape or form if I was Harry would I consider paying 10 million, or even 7 for him.

I know he is a good player and a good prospect but get real people.

Que the Andy Carroll 35 million rebuttle. Mistakes happen.

McGeady was excellent, but Forrest shows a similarly impressive calibre. McGeady had more tricks, but Forrest is more direct and has a better final ball. He is also more clinical in terms of finishing. I wouldn't sell him for £7M. We need to keep a hold of him for a few years and sell him for a premium at a later date.

Personally wouldnt sell, but you cant knock back crazy money for him if offered.

Tbh i think if it came down to it, wee forrest would stay for a couple more years. Strikes me as a sensible wee guy, would develop a bit more here then if there was still interest, move on

we shouldn't be doing business for anything less than ten million, look at some of the players who are going for twice that amount in england, jordan henderson for example. Forrest is twice the player Henderson is, I understand we wouldn't get the same fee because Forrest isn't English but we shouldn't be selling for cheap. You say that some of the values on here are ridiculous but his real value is his value to our title chances and without him I don't think we would win it. He's been our best player by far this season imo and hopefully he is here for years to come.

If teams want one of our better players then they are going to have to pay for it. I personally wouldnt sell him at any price, unless it was something absolutely insane. Also oxlaide chamberlain went for 13m henderson went for 20m. Jones went to man u for 17m. Man united even paid 7.4m for bebe who was a completely untested gamble. If forrest goes it should be for a massive fee.

I partly agree with you, I think Forrest would command a fee of around 7 million at moment though. I think if he proved himself in the Champions league then we could expect more.

Mcgeady is definitely more technical but I think James Forrest has more end product. Anyone got any stats to prove/disprove this?

Andy Carrol was definitely a one off.

I think the big difference between McGeady and Forrest is our bargaining position. With McGeady we had a player that wanted out and we needed the money to rebuild an aging squad. Now we've got a young player at a club where he still has things to accomplish, he's under contract and we're in a position of strength in that we don't need to sell him. I honestly think his worth today, in terms of skill, is 5-6 mil, maybe 7-8 mil if you consider his potential. I think the club could safely ask 10 mil for him as we don't need to sell him.

This, if EPL teams really want our players they can start paying over the top for them like they do in other legues if they want cheap bargains they can go to the other scottish teams

this exactly, they pay over the top for players like bent and carroll so we're quite right to demand big money
