So we made a mistake. Get over it. Lindsay would have been the better option last summer. He ain't the better option now cause he ain't available any more. Let's make sure that in a few months' time we won't be regretting not signing Hendry as well.

I have no regrets about not signing Liam Lindsay.

    Not fussed about Hendry either.

Jozo and Erik out, First 11 CB and Hendry in wouldn't be bad business.

I’m not too bothered as long as he’s not our only signing in that area.

He won't be our only signing in that area. We have already signed Compper.

You mean besides Compper? Cause we signed him to be a first 11 CB.

Think Hendry is a bit of a Scott Allan signing, I don’t really see how he’s good enough to get a regular game even as a sub. Will end up just making up the training ground numbers. It would be a waste of money and wages, even if it’s only £1million or so.

Id much rather have an injury prone simuonovic who is a top class defender on his day than some 23 year old from Dundee.

People have very short memories if they think Simunovic is terrible - couple months ago he was our best defender

Seen Hendry play for Wigan in friendly. Looked decent but he had loan spells at lower league clubs and didn't really impress.

Playing for Celtic is very different. If we do sign hopefully he can step up and meet our demands.

Agree with you the thing that I'm thinking though is boyata needs an upgrade (commper yes) but commper can't play in 2 extremely important matches for us ie zenit. So that leaves ajer and boyata/ajer and hendry maybe... Ajer I'm happy with but his partner for these matches if jozo goes I feel won't be strong enough for the European games. We have enough squad fillers and that's what all of us know we need now is players who will improve us in Europe. Commper may be that player(never seen him play) but he's unable to feature vs zenit so that's my only worry really of getting hendry and no other CB of good quality. Domestically were fine now but we know we need improvements for Europe so we will just have to wait and see

Ajer lack of pace was brutally exposed by Astana and will be in games against any striker with decent pace, he is good at stepping out with the ball and winning his duels but as i said the way we play there isnt a full back who can tuck accross and cover him therefore a CB with a good turn of pace is still required.

He was still fairly inexperienced there. The more games he gets and pacey strikers he comes up against his positioning will be better and he will have a better reading of the game to give himself an extra yard. Remember CB wasn't his natural position. It's now becoming it though. The games I've seen hendry in he didn't stand out for me so that's why I'm saying we will get someone of more quality, see what happens. But I don't think ajer is a concern and whichever way the zenit tie goes he will learn from the experience and hopefully him and Marv can form a strong partnership domestically

Oh no doubt it will come he is still in his late teens people forget the age of some of our players at times

    Ajer 19
    Kouassi 20
    Edouard 19
    Tierney 20
    Johnstone 18

    It’s a young squad

Kouassi situation still has me baffled, hope he doesn't go out on loan and Brendan rests brown even if it's subbing him off 60 mins when we're 3-0 up etc or playing him alongside brown. Imagine how solid the two of them would be plus Eboue can ping a pass 40 yards as we've seen

I think its a certainty that Kouassi is off on loan, knowing our luck broony will get injured and we wont have a replacement, but i agree with you its a strange one.

Ajer is not slow at all, Astana had 2 * rapid players Twumasi and the other big *, they’d destroy most defenders for pace.

He’s actually quick for a big guy.

I didnt say he was slow in the conventional sense mate, i think he has a lack of pace, which a guy like VVD has or Joos Valgaren had - more so in europe than domestically.

Bit Joos was some defender but I can't remember him being particularly pacey.
