Agree. Toney looks to have a bit of everything - pace, power, movement, skills. However I reckon it would be wise to offload Griff as he his chances of game time would be very limited and we don’t need the drama he brings to the club.

No way we’re matching that in my opinion, especially after spending close to £5m on Ajeti.

I’m happy to miss out if that’s the kind of money being thrown around. I would rather that money was spent on getting Edouard a new contract, then spend the year scouting replacements.

I think out interest massively cooled when Ajeti was done. Dont think we were realistically signing both of them

A potential £10m deal for a league one player who we could sign for nothing in 5 months. Madness. Such is the English market. Nothing against this lad or his ability but that's a massive risk for us to take. Ajeti signing cooled our interest I suspect anyway.

No doubt the money is there for that type of signing however more than likely for a CB.

Not too fussed about this one at that price when he only has a year left.

He could easily hold out to January and we could get him on a pre contract if he doesn’t fancy Brentford. That is if the rumours about him been desperate to come here are true.

On the other hand I think it’s good if we don’t go back in as hopefully it means that Edouard will definitely be staying this season.

Those saying he could hold out to January, Toney is 24 so well into his career not a young prospect and playing league 1 football. Writing off a full season not to mention he could get seriously injured and any big money deals disappear, would be extremely risky.

I was never particularly sure about this deal given the high cost and fact he had never scored at a higher level than league 1, that said for some reason I think he would have turned out a success had we got him. However £10m does seem too much.

Strachan obviously rates him highly but £10m for a 24 year old guy who has only done damage in the English 3rd tier is a massive risk.

Looking at his clips he certainly seems to have a bit about him,.so I was willing to trust Strachan's judgement but if that is the asking price then it will probably prove too rich for us.

Think Ajeti was our first choice would have taken him at half the price so not too fussed

mad to think we got Hooper for £2.4m when League 1 strikers can go for £10m now.

£4.5m for a player who has scored plenty in the Swiss top flight and Europe or 10m for a league 1 player. I'm happy with our choice.

Saw talk that Peterborough have accepted a bid from Brentford but Toney is refusing to speak with them as his heart is set in Celtic, imagine he sits on his resolve and in 4 months he signs on a free and runs his contract down, Barry fry how would you like that
