Tbf I think there is more chance Griffiths could be off

 

Lot of IFS, but if the season is played out to some degree of normality and if covid is in the rear view mirror and if edoaurd signs a year extension and if edoaurd has even just a good a year as last season well then if more than one club is sniffing around him he could easily go for 40 mill+. We can tell him we will agree to a 40mill release clause but gentleman agreement that if we aren't gonna get that next summer we will let him go for less. If Joelinton is 40 mill and Tierney is 25 mill edoaurd will be 40 if he signs an extension next season

He's given so much to the club and I love the wee guy but tbh it's getting harder to remember when he was last truly at his best for us. So much going on in the past few seasons. I think he started to go a bit downhill because of the snake. He didn't fancy him and gave him some * and bull story about bringing in players to help him. Griff thrived on the pressure when he was the man and suddenly he was to take a back seat. I think it went downhill from there. People keep saying "when Griff get's back to doing what he does best" and to be honest I just can't see it. I think that his ship has sailed with us.

 

I am worried we’re getting this lad in incase Eddy goes, my hope is it’s getting him in early so he’s settled for Eddy going next season. Can’t see us having 5 strikers at the one time.

If we are still interested in him I would rather wait till January and try and get him in on a pre contract. If he is as interested in coming here as we are been told he will wait. Peterborough can accept offer from other clubs but he can run his contract down if he doesn’t fancy the clubs on offer.

Would rather invest that money in defence getting Duffy in, another centre half and a LB.
Still feel we need a winger as well as Johnston is injury prone and Forrest and Elyounoussi will need to be given a rest at times with the amount of games.

The price quoted is stupid beyond belief for the lad, the Barry fry character is chancing it and I think using the initial approach to his own advantage
We may have used it as a backup option to ajeti or to try and lean on ajeti to make a decision.
Think fry may be trying to use it also to drive up the price for Toney, but I can not see us forking out another £5+ million on another striker at this time with all others staying as is. That sort of money needs to be spent on a defender and other positions before we buy a 5th striker for high fees and wages who will be demanding game time as much as the other four.

Eddie is off if we’re still chasing Toney, imo.

Would be gutting to lose him, but I really can’t see us going into the season with Ajeti, Toney, Kilmala and Griff (potentially) all aiming for that 2nd striker spot.

 

Perhaps Toney ain’t coming up here to be 1st choice he may be the one settling in as I don’t see it being Ajeti. Bayo is off Griff May be loaned or be about but I personally think he will be off after the 10 also. Now Eddie is a Cert to go after the 10 he’s said it himself I know words can be deceiving but I genuinely think Eddie will be around for the 10 then to the top. Players have already been papped out the door and I believe others will be too it’s a long window but I don’t think it’s Eddie this year.

 

I hope he is here for the 10, 100%. I just think people are engaging in a bit of wishful thinking/mental gymnastics with the Toney situation. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one, as much as we all don’t want it to be in this situation, and that would be Toney coming in as a replacement for Eddie.

It’s a bit like the Tierney situation I guess. I was convinced he was leaving as soon as we signed Bolingoli, but a lot of folk were certain he would stay for the 10. That’s not me saying ‘told you so’ or anything like that, but we all want these guys to stay so much we skew things a bit to make ourselves believe they will.

Would love to be wrong, and there’s definitely a decent chance I am. We just count down the days until the deadline.
