POSH have received no contact from Premier League club Wigan concerning manager Darren Ferguson.
Fergie jnr is 3-1 second favourite behind Swansea chief Roberto Martinez with some bookmakers to succeed Steve Bruce at the JJB Stadium.

"We haven't heard from Wigan and we don't expect to either," said Posh director of football Barry Fry. "Martinez is their first choice and everything indicates that deal will be done."

I really dont see what the big deal with paying 2million etc for a manager we * that sort of cash away on people like lovens Sammy etc big jan etc , The manager is the most important person at the club so why is it too much to pay for a very good manager considering we pay this sort of dosh for donkeys season in season out ,

Former Hearts midfielder Juanjo has told setanta.com that the prospect of managing Celtic and testing himself on the Champions League stage could persuade Roberto Martinez to knock-back a job in Spain or The Premier League.
Martinez is in the frame to succeed Gordon Strachan at Celtic, but the current Swansea chief is set to enter into talks with Wigan.
The prospect of managing in the English top flight may persuade Martinez to head to Wigan, but Juanjo feels Celtic is a bigger lure.
According to Juanjo, there is no comparison between managing Real Sociedad and Celtic because of the history attached to the former SPL champions and even a Premier League side may struggle against that kind of reputation.
“Celtic are a massive club, much more so than Sociedad,” admitted Jaunjo. “I think it is always going to be better to manage a team who are going to be playing in the Champions League.
“For me it would be a massive difference if I had the chance to play or manage in the Champions League.
“As a player and as a manager, ambition is the key and it is important to play and manage in the highest competition possible.
“But I don’t know what he is really thinking just now and if he got the chance to move to the Premiership that would be a massive move as well.
“But again the fact of playing in the Champions League would obviously be a huge incentive.”

totally agree with you. I dont understand it myself. We wasted millions on pish players but wont even stump up a couple of mill for a decent manager

Is it his decision? If it is down to him he's a prize chump and I for one am grateful that we didn't sign someone with such a lack of ambition.

Celtic is a great club and we create legends on and off the park.........you just have to look to WGS who has written himself into the annals of the clubs history. On the back of his success i'm sure WGS wont struggle to get his next managerial post in the EPL if and when he's ready. Coming to the SPL to manage either side of the OF isn't neccesarily the death knell for ones career.

It's not about a lack of ambition its all about the fact he played over 200 games for Wigan no's the place and the fans well , the board etc , Add the factor of being in the biggest and best league in the world and putting his Skills up v Fergie , Wenger ,Raffa etc , plus the fact he will be giving alot of funds and wigan have better players than us ,

And how far do you think he's going to go with Wigan? Will they ever win a trophy? WIll they ever play CL football? What does one go into management for if they're not ambitious? Or perhaps we're talking about personal level of ambition here  He can have better funds and better players but it's imo highly unlikely that he will match the bigger teams in terms of success.

Not everyone in the world has the same feeling towards Celtic as we do. He's a young highly rated manager who is going to get the chance to manage in the EPL with a club he used to play for. If he does a good job with Wigan I'm sure he'll be able to pick up a better club in a few years time.

I'd love to see him at CP as if he plays attacking football, I'd welcome him but it does look like he's on his way to Wigan.
