That's an interesting point mate. And logic would suggest that the Israelis of all people would be sympathetic, but it rarely pans out like that. Very often people who suffered are the first to inflict suffering.

The Celtic Song so long as Dean Park doesn't sing it.
Others tend to tip toe around them as a result for fear of being branded anti Jewish or heaven forbid Holocaust deniers or worse, supporters.

Time to get tough with Israel and kick some *.

I wish that would happen but it simply wont. The UK and US act as though the sun shines out of Israel's *. Never mind Iran, Libya and North Korea; The UK, US and Israel are the real Axis of Evil. The President of Iran said "Israel should be wiped from the face of the earth" and there was public outcry and condemnation from Western leaders. Agreed his words were unacceptable but still they were just words. Israel on the other hand bomb police stations, kill young children in the process and the outcry is less than when Ahmedinejad was flapping his gums. It's no wonder young Palestinian men decide to blow themselves up on Israeli buses, they are desperate and it seems as though no one on earth gives a flying * about their plight.

How the USA & Britain can stand back and allow this blatant terrorism is beyond me. Israel are the worse offenders when it comes the acts of terror and they get away with it time and again.

I have always thought that the Israelis are a bit scared of another holocaust so they seem to flex their muscles a bit bigger than everyone else just as if to say 'Don't * with us.' It's a bit pathetic really.

There is some absolute garbage being spouted in this thread...some of through ignorance, some with very thinly disguised racist overtones and some downright falsehoods and lies.

HAMAS's military wing, Izzedeen Al Qassam Brigades, recently published an article on their English website describing the current strategy of Hamas in regard to rocket terror and a possible Israeli response. The article relates to how an Israeli military defense operation in Gaza will best serve the interests of Hamas. Such a response, the Izzedeen article states, will help Hamas gain further support from the Palestinian people. Hamas has time and time again, construed a scenario which depicts the Israeli army intending to fight the Palestinian people and not the terrorists who fire the rockets. And most importantly, the article makes clear that an Israeli military response will garner Israel further international condemnation, giving Hamas the legitimacy it needs to make it "an important regional and international player."
The article also points out that Hamas will no longer recognizes Fatah's Mahmoud Abbas's presidency when it ends on January 9th.

Hamas has proved time and time again that it is willing to sacrifice its own people's basic needs to further its political goals and terrorist agenda.

It was just a few days ago that Hamas mocked Israel for its failure to respond to the barrage of rockets that rained down on communities near the border with Gaza. A leaflet distributed by the armed wing of Hamas, Izzadin Kassam, boasted that Israel was "hopeless and desperate" in the face of the relentless attacks: "The enemy is in a state of confusion and doesn't know what to do ... Their fragile cabinet has met in a desperate attempt to stop the rockets while thousands of settlers have found refuge in shelters which, by *'s will, will become their permanent homes."

That was the openly stated goal of Hamas: to force all Israelis in the expanding range of the rockets in Hamas's arsenal to live in permanent fear for their lives.

Those of you who post stupid comments about Israeli agression without actually even attempting to investigate further really should know better. I really couldn't care less whether you want Israel destroyed or not but if you're going to debate...get the facts correct or at least try to. According to Hamas figures broadcast on many of the world's TV and radio station, 95% of those killed were Hamas members. The fact they site weapons warehouses and rocket launchers alongside schools and houses isn't really of any interest to you whatsoever I noticed. Likewise the fact they have been firing rockets into Israel from the day Israel left Gaza. There is NO occupation of Gaza. The only Israeli in Gaza is Gilad Scallit who was kidnapped by Hamas from Israeli territory.

Hamas brought this on itself and has no-one to blame for it but itself. One of the most interesting things regarding this operation is the almost muted silence coming from the arab world as a whole. The usual suspects of Nasrallah, Bashad and Achmedinejad are spouting but the moderates are noticable in their silence....they too have had enough of Hamas, their exploitation of the people of Gaza and their blatant profiteering by taxing even humanitarian aid which is sent through.

You really are turning into a horrible wee pain zed. That "tanking" as you call it came as a result of Hezbollah crossing into Israel, murdering two soldiers and carrying their bodies back over the border to hold to ransom. An absolutely sickening and inhuman act by anyone's standards...even yours.

I happen to live 6 kms from that border and have 3 kids in this house. I suppose you'd consider it a wonderful act of allah if Hezbollah sent rockets over my village tonight.

You really should think a little before letting your obvious hate of all things Israeli run away with you.

Oh and can you explain just what Hezbollah's problem is with Israel seeing as Syria is the country occupying their territory!
