Couldn't fit it all in the title but basically I ask: Is there a stigma attached to a child wearing a Celtic/Sevco jersey, tracksuit etc nowadays, or are we just not as popular?
Remember when I was younger everyone had a Celtic or Rangers top or tracksuit or something and people worse them all the time, especially out playing football. You hardly see the youngsters wearing anything nowadays, its all Madrid Barca or Man United. I was in the Celtic shop last week and there was an old man his daughter (im assuming) and her son. He offered to buy the lad a Celtic top, just a normal t-shirt thing and she refused and acted as if he was stupid? Said the wee guy can't wear that sort of thing, yet he was wearing a * Barca top?
Remember a snobby aunty years ago saying she wouldn't let my wee cousin wear a Celtic strip because hes 'too young' (he was 8-9), she'd let him wear the local teams' top.
Is there a stigma, or are we just not as popular now?
By stigma im thinking the whole 'the old firm are sectarian bigots' nonsense.

I think I saw a kid wearing a Celtic shirt playing football in a park here in Brussels yesterday. I am always happy to spot someone wearing a Celtic related item over here.
You mainly see Barca, Real, Man United, Chelsea or Bayern tops over here though. PSG are getting popular too. Almost never Belgian tops. -

I've noticed even in the last 5 years that less and less people in Glasgow wear football gear in general. When I was in primary (which isn't really that long ago :fear:) more or less everyone had football trackies/tops and wore them all the time. Whereas my wee brothers generation don't seem to bother.
Maybe it's just styles changing and thats that. -

Aye tracksuits in general went out of fashion for jogging suits years ago.
from about 2000-2007 everycunt wore lacoste and football tracksuits, Bayern, Milan, France, Sweden, Real Madrid, Marseille etc -
Not as much as it used to.
Also depends on what part of the country you are in. -

Barely see anyone out playing football these days anyway

There are always people who are scared of letting their kids wear Celtic/Rangers tops, due to incidents in the past. And there have been times where someone has been abused or assaulted due to just wearing their respective teams tops.
My dad was always the same, he would always say to me "you're not going out in that, are you? All it takes is one nutjob" -

I think it was incase some bigger kids or a nutter took offence and beat us up haha. Still had the tops but wasn't allowed to wear it if i was going out to play out of sight from the house. Was allowed to wear my home teams top or my scotland stuff though.
See a lot of kids wearing Bara, Man U or Chelsea tops around here. Most of the Celtic/Rangers stuff is all worn by adults that look like meth heads :smiley-laughing002: -

Aye, think it might just be the fashion changing then. Probably over-exaggerating. :smiley-laughing002:
