Always enjoy listening to him. Even the other night he was complaining that we weren't on first on the CL highlights program. :icon_mrgreen:

Great man. He's always said he wasn't a Celtic fan when he arrived but he certainly was when he left. Never a bad word to say about us, always defends us to the hilt. Some other ex players turned pundits should take a leaf out of his book.

Have to say i didnt like his managerial style and was glad when he left. But who knew Mowbray would be so bad? But i always liked him as a person and it never bothered me that he wasnt "Celtic minded". Why would he have been? I think he has become Celtic minded since his time here, thats what this club seems to do to people. Never hear him say a bad word about us. He is articulate, funny and a great unofficial ambassador for Celtic. Hail Hail WGS.

He's a clever man, which is why he realises managing Celtic will be the peak of his career.

When you are as fervently supported by so many people it is hard to top as a player or a manager and he knows he was lucky to get the opportunity.

I always liked listening to him on TV, he knows his stuff and he's funny.

I was really pleased when he got the job but at the end could not wait till he left after the * we had to watch.

I think he got the celtic fever in a big way the same as big john hartson.

As you say the guy has only got good things to say about celtic and good on him for that

What not to like. He is a character, funny and has the 2nd best record of any Celtic manager in the league (3 out of 4) and Europe (2 last 16s in 2 CL campaigns). All done with very few regular players who cost him more than 1 or 2 million quid. Cant ask more really. I think that those who criticised his style are missing the point that you shouldnt put style over substance. I think he knew the limitations of most of the players at his disposal and cut the cloth accordingly. We have had other managers who thought we could play like Barcelona and won very little.

He gave Middlesbrough a relatively brief go after his time with us but yeah, it does seem that he was happy to see Celtic as the peak of his managerial career otherwise he would have given Hibs or Aberdeen a lash.

"He wasn't a Celtic man" is what you hear the most.

I think it was the lack of Celtic connections that the previous managers had. So any shortcomings he had, he took an extra bruiser for as manager.

He was brilliant for us and worked within the budget we have just like NL is learning to do now.

I think the whole "isn't a Celtic man" thing was the usual anti Celtic tosh from the MSM and was simply an angle to attack Celtic from. The reality was that most fans were as disgruntled as they are with any manager when the team looses. No more no less!

Tbh I hated him as manager, under him we got worse and worse and worse, I found his wisecracks patronising, and felt like he didn't give a * about the fans. We did well under him, albeit against one of the worst hun teams in memory. He left a year to late.

As a pundit I like him, and he obviously has developed a liking for us which shows through.

Fans were disgruntled before a ball was even kicked so it had nothing to do with the teams results, after all while wgs was in charge celtic were a winning team in the spl and europe.
People listed all sorts of rubbish why they didnt like him.
    1.he sold our ageing stars.
2.his team was boring....how they could be boring in the spl but great nights in the cl is just a joke..double standards me thinks.
    3. didnt speak the right way to the press.
4.NEVER PLAYED FOR CELTIC AND NOT CELTIC MINDED.

Number 4 was used on here aften enough.....nothing to do with the media.

In short wgs has given much more to this club and its fans and still does even though he was treated very poorly by our support and i feel if he had been better treated we wouldnt have had the tony mowbry farce.:50:
