Is Chris Sutton a legend?

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Heisenberg, Jun 7, 2011.

  1. I agree with you :50: there are about 20 all time greats but theres about 80 legends then theres the rest the "he was a decent player" or "he was *".

    Great - Larsson
    Legend - Sutton
    Decent - Latchford
    Pish - Naylor
    Legendarily Pish - Sheidt

  2. Petrov, Mjallby, Lubo, Lambert, Lennon. All quality and all successful, I don't think individually all could or should be classed as legends though.

I just think it cheapens the term personally to throw it around for everyone.

I do it myself. Samaras is a 'legend' for making Ferguson * himself, Brown is a 'legend' for taunting Diouf even O'Dea is a 'legend' for smashing a hun.

The only player that transcends all others in my lifetime though is Larsson and for that reason I see him as the only true legend I have ever seen at Parkhead myself.

    my thoughts exactly

  3. The Lions are all legends as are the likes of McStay and Larsson for me. Sutton was an amazing Celtic player all the same.

  4. i would say so yes

  5. probably the most important player to that team other than larsson imo.

  6. He's stuck in between Hero and Legend.

  7. :icon_mrgreen::56:

  8. The King of Kings said it himself, that big Sutton was the best strike partner he ever played alongside. That says enough for me :50:

  9. Fair post although I'd say Stan, Mjallby and Lennon are Celtic legends. Some of the best players we've ever seen at our club in their positions. Lubo too but I wouldn't class him as a legend because we never got him for long enough to realistically qualify as one.

The last part of your post I can see where you're coming from but surely you've got to include Boruc in there? Without doubt the best keeper we've ever seen in this country.

  10. To award legendary status to a player is an individuals choice.

Big Sutton would be one of mine. :50:

  11. Stan Petrov is definately a legend. Was an absolute key part of 4 succesful league winning sides, picking up 3 Scottish Cups, 3 Scottish League Cups and of course the run to Seville.

He was a key player in all of that, not a lot of players in our history have played a key role in picking up more silverware.

  12. Oye, Ciaran (or whoever you are), is it that you had fck all else to do or you are unemployed or you want to build up on your 'number of posts' ? What a * thread this is !!

All I can reply to your question is, Is The Pope a Catholic ?

PS: Daft threads like this must be shut off !!!

    Hail Hail:shamrock:

  13. Neil Lennon is a Celtic legend, there is absolutely no doubt about that in my eyes.

  14. * :97:

    Definately a legend.

  15. How? We are talking Christopher Roy Sutton here !!!! & as of Lenny ( in your other post)

An average player, who we loved cause the Huns hated him !!! Honestly, think hard on this point & then answer.

    Holding Mid-Fielder? Lenny couldn't lace Paul Lambert's boots !!

    Hail Hail:shamrock:

  16. Are you * kidding me on? Lennon was a very good holding midfielder. Was an intricate part of 5 SPL winning teams, a lynchpin of 3 Scottish Cup Winning teams, a stalwart of 2 League Cup Winning teams.

A captain for two titles and a Scottish Cup. A key player in a run to the UEFA cup final and a key player of our first ever succesfull Champions League group stage.

When Neil Lennon left we suffered for years, until Neil himself took over and bought Kayal and Ledley to replace the kind of job he did in midfield.

We still don't have anybody who can read the game in midfield like he could.

He has became our manager and has made a good start by winning silverware for the first time in a couple of years. Missing out on the league by only one point.

Add into that what he has suffered through for this club then, yes without doubt Neil Lennon is a legend and if you think and different you need to catch a * grip of yourself.
