Hooper has more ability, is quicker and a better allround footballer. Carroll though is a great target man, a totally different style of player. They can't really be compared.

Carroll will score loads of goals for Liverpool, because he can bully defences and from what i've seen must be one of if not the best in Europe, certainly the best in England at heading the ball and will guarentee at least a dozen headed goals a season never mind other goals.

If Hooper played in the Premiership comparisons could be made but he doesn't and Carroll has done very well so far. Although I think Hooper would still get 20 a season if he was with someone like Spurs or even Liverpool.

Hooper is more comparible to players like Robbie Keane, Jermaine Defoe and Louis Saha.

Maybe he has scored at a higher level and played at a higher level but lets just say hooper had signed for newcastle at the start of the season, Do you think he would score goals in the epl, I think he would have no problem in that department, now am not saying hooper is a better player than carrol because they are 2 opposite and completley different players with different styles of play but a wouldnt mind getting £35 million for hooper

They both have different qualities ie carrol is superb in the air and has a bit of pace but hooper has his qualities as well and is technical and more skillfull than carrol imo :50:

So a think he could be on par with him giving chance, if he was playing in the better league.

This argument should end at the fact Liverpool paid £35 MILLION for a player who has not really been proving himself among the elite for that long. Look at Alan Hutton, was Tottenham not that long ago not willing to part with him for anything less than £9 Million? If the Huns thought he was that type of class would they have let him go? The league is bigger down there and a lot of money from Sky, ect generates a lot of revenue for the EPL, hence these players are higher paid and higher rated. Hooper is a better finisher, more intelligent and not as greedy on the ball - granted Carroll is great in the air and can score a goal but come on we are in the SPL after all.

How much would Hooper cost if he played in England though?

If Hooper had joined Sunderland in the summer, then you could bet that all the big teams would be looking at him and figures like £20million would be flung around and he'd probably have joined the likes of Liverpool for £18-25million in January or would this summer.

Then we'd all be saying the same thing, would we have bought Hooper for £20million, no way we'd be saying he's a £6million player but in England a £6million player is a decent squad player or a lower end team player like Jermaine Jenas, Reo-Coker or someone.

Carroll has scored against Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City.

Surely you can't deny it's a higher level than Scottish teams?

Las time I checked Terry, K.Toure, Vermaelen, Sagna, Kompany, A.Cole, Ivanovic, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Alex, Koscielny, Essien, Meireles, Song, Wilshere, De Jong, Y.Toure, Barry, Fabregas, Gerrard etc never played for Hibs, Motherwell and Dundee Utd.

Although I think Hooper would also do the business in that League, he hasn't yet so isn't worth the same money. But once he is there, he'll be worth that kind of money.

So did Michael Rickets, released by Tranmere Rovers.

Anyone suggesting that there is no comparison to be made is doing Celtic and Hooper himself a massive disservice.

There is visible comparisons; age and nationality and the fact they're from the same league for starters.

aye when implying that he's been scoring against all the best teams in europe, he's ony really tested against epl teams. i wouldnt say he's european calibre like torres, berbatov, drogba, anelka, arshavin, ruud van nistlerooy or rooney etc.

    hoopers a poacher?:56:

he's one of the hardest working strikers weve had in a long time, his movement off the ball is as good as off it. he can win the ball from a defender or midfieder and put a quality pass in like he did for brown to win the pen on teusday.

So you dont regard the English Premier as better than the SPL? :56:

I must be blind not noticing guys as good as Drogba, Gerrard, Fabregas, Essien, Rooney, Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry, Lampard, Van der Vaart, Modric, Ashley Cole, Cech, etc in Scotland.

Now you mention it Ross Tokely is probably better than Ivanovic, Gary Kenneth is superior to Jamie Carragher and Liam Kelly and Kevin Kyle make Raul Meireles and Jermaine Defoe look like duds.:97:

Previously, I'd felt my own post pretty much summed things up, but I have to admit this may top it. :56:

if andy carrol is worth 35 million then Hooper is worth a minimum of 20 million.

I think Ross Tokely is better than Michael Rickets or £15m fox in the box Francis Jeffers.
